You guys know any decent shops that can do the timing belt service? I just called Ball Acura at they quoted me $1000 and 10 hours for plugs, belts, valves, inspect the water pump....that's just labor. I can't believe it takes 9 hrs. I've got all the parts lined up for $380 too.

 

That sure as hell is up there as far as the labor price. Ball is who I would have recommended but, I can't say I know of another good shop.

 

^Ugh, everywhere I've called has been about $1000. Maybe I'll just get the parts now cause they're cheap and do the service in 7 months when I get back to the country.

BTW, they quote 4.5 hours for the valves alone...damn you VTEC!

 

Supposedly there is a book with a certain number of hours that technicians/advisors go by when doing and quoting jobs.

For example, front brakes might say 1.5 hours. In reality, the tech can get the done sooner, that's where the profit margin is.

My buddy is a Honda tech

 

^Haha, funny you mention that. The last place I talked to, I could hear her thumbing through a book and she says, "well, it says here it should take 4.5 hrs for the valves and 2.5 for the tensioner and belts." I miss having a big garage and all my tools. I can do all of this except for the valves

Friday night I got pretty trashed, but not obliterated ...

Last night on the other hand .. holy shit.... I am still drunk and it's noon.

I should put partying in my resume.

 

So today, I took my girl on a hike near Dixon Lake.

And sure enough I saw a WDP CL-S in the parking lot and I figured, pfft .. it's probably an automatic anyways.

Sure enough it's a 6MT, Black leather, and Navigation.

I was tempted to write a note on the windshield "If you plan on selling anytime soon, let me know". lol.
