Help! transmission just gave

My tranny just took a dump at 115k, 2005 3G TL 5AT. Anyone know any good shops around Buena park or long beach?

I just purchased a rebuilt from Ramitransmissions in Brooklyn to be installed by my local shop for $500. The trans is $1150.00 with torque convertor etc. This is for a Odyssey. They sell tons of TL trannys too. Same bad design. They have added upgrades to the rebuilds thatthe factory does not so they are actually better than OEM. They are on ebay or call em at 718-856-5566. cheapest and best way to go. this will be the 3rd in the Odyssey and i am on #3 in the TL! this is the first one that hasnt been warrantied.

is this covered by the infamous tranny issue? i know that the honda accord had the recall on it. its covered completely by honda, which is also acura.

you double check to see if your year is included by asking acura for a detailed list of covered car or give them your vin.

Curious what you paid, and who did the work?

took it to AAMCO in long beach, closest shop nearby when I drove 10-15 mph for a good 1.5 miles as my car couldn't shift from 1st to 2nd. DO NOT GO THERE, they charged me ~$3600 for rebuilt tranny and new motor mounts. no tranny issues after the rebuild, but I can come up with more than 3-4 complaints for them regarding their business.

Here's one example, so the next day my CEL /!\ and TCS light come on. Transmission runs fine, I haven't floored it or anything so I notify Don at AAMCO. He says it prolly needs a computer reset and to come by. so ok, as I head there, I go ahead and really test the situation and floor it. BAM, it won't shift gears at high rpm's, I let go immediately. so I cruise in around 35-40 at no more than 3500 rpms.

I tell them the problem and next day they tell me I need a new oil pressure switch, which will cost me $100 parts and $200 of 2 hrs labor. I keep cool and ask them why this isn't covered under the work they just did. Don says because the CEL code readings are referencing engine problems as suppose to a transmission problem. But I ask how does this happen after the work they just did and not even 24 hrs I have this. I also ask if there was initially engine codes from day 1. He said no but it must be coincidence, but....he'll knock off 1 hr of labor and charge me $200 total. I told him I will have to call him back.

I didn't call him back, the next day I showed up and demanded my keys. Since I was able to drive the car fine without going over 5-6000 rpms, I took it to my buddy's shop at Integrity Automotive in Chino. He finds the problem and guess what...one of my vtec solenoid connection was loose. once that was secure I had vtec power again at high rpms!

Anyways, I'm glad that's all over with, but for a 3G TL, a normal rebuild will cost you over $3k easy. Next time, I'm going with a JDM tranny and have my buddy do the install. Something like that should run about $1500-$2000 total.

iHaz vtec again!
