help i need a honda/acura mechanic.

i am debating weather i should go to the dealer and get screwed over on my timing belt service or if i should buy the parts online and do it myself. i am familiar with basic tasks such as oil changes, spark plug changes and things like that but dont know if i should mess with the timing belt. i was wondering if anybody knows of any honda or acura mechanic in sothern california willing to do this for me on the side for a cheaper than dealer price. if anybody knows of one please let me know. pm me or email me. alanizjr27@yahoo.com

thanks in advance guys

I would say if your not comfortable with messing with something that can cause catastrophic engine damage if not done properly then you should visit an independent honda mechanic and have them perform the job. you can save money by purchasing the parts yourself and perhaps if they are cool they will let you watch and perhaps get your hands dirty just so you can see how its done.

there are certainly step by step procedures in the manual available to follow and it really is not all that difficult as long as you have everything lined up properly and you dont move anything once its apart. its when things get moved out of timing that its a bit difficult to get it all syncd up again.

I did the timing belt with my friend on my car... hoooly shit lumpy as hell idle... car stalled if I wasn't on the gas. Ended up taking it to my friends dad's shop and he corrected it for me.

If you're around Arcadia area, I HIGHLY recommend T&M Auto Repair. They are the only ones who do the maintenance on my car, along with all my families cars. They only use OEM Acura parts too.

My uncle is a certified HONDA/ACURA master tech, opened his own shop in Garden Grove if that's closer to you. Tell him Andre sent you he'll hook you up proper. Shop called D&Y Auto repair, his name is Donny ph#(714)530-7484.
