Anyone want to put together a track day in Central/So Cal?

I know we tried this a couple years ago and failed miserably. It seems like there are more and more people tracking or thinking about tracking their TLs. It would be fun to get a group of fellow TLs together for Willow Springs or Buttonwillow. This way we all sort of know each other, the pressure is off, and we can help out the guys that have never done it before. I just really don't want to do it on a 105 degree day for the car's sake. I have a feeling this will never take off but I thought I would throw it out there as a feeler.

I was going to start tracking my Si before I decided to trade it in for the TL, so once I get used to the TL I'll probably hit the track with it. Get me a good baseline before I start modding it, until that time, I'd be down to hang out with the guys. I'm going to the RedLine Time Attack event this weekend July 4th at Willow Springs, just watching this time. Anyone going?

Matt, set it up. A number of us went to Willow Springs last month and ran some laps.

I'm in.

Once I get new rotors / pads / brake fluid / pads, I would seriously consider tracking my Accord.

However, what kind of time frame / date are we talking about?

XtremeSpeed's first event is scheduled for 7/31 & 8/1 at Streets of Willow. The cost is only $120 for the full day and will include free AMB lap timing and free instruction for beginners.

Willow Springs is far as hell though. If you guys get this going, I want to join too. I want to at least track my car once in its lifetime. Feels like TSX'ers have been left out

SpeedTrialUSA is running Big Willow this weekend. If I didn't have plans, I would've already signed up. Big Willow is AWESOME.

I've always had the heart to track the car, but never the motivation to go alone. Especially if it's my first time.

Kinda like going to the movies. Almost everyone goes with their buddies. So the fun factor won't be as high going alone.

Where in the world have you been? Mike and I have posted so many times about going to the track the past 2 years. Last month, at least 5 of us AZ members from SoCal went to Streets together.

I swear I did not see that thread. How were your experiences? Did you prep the car in any special way? Is it noob friendly?

It's very noob friendly. All you need to do is bleed your brakes with racing brake fluid. You can keep everything else stock.

I had no idea you guys were going so regularly but I just discovered the regions section. I would love to try Big Willow to give the new brakes a good workout. It just sucks being in a 258hp car for that type of track but it's a ton of fun regardless.

Definitely much fun. It is addictive. Don't need to worry about HP, as on occasion, experienced girls in Miatas will pass you with stock HP.

I miss driving RWD high powered cars where you have to manhandle them even on the straightaways and getting into some serious speed before it's time to brake. 258 or 215hp is fine and you can still have fun with it but it takes away a whole dimension to the experience.

August 28, 2010 is the next SpeedTrialUSA event @ Streets of Willow. It sucks, though because tomorrow and Sunday are the only times for the whole year that they offer Big Willow for us to drive. The rest of the track days are on the shorter track setup.

I know I can get us a group rate if people want to sign-up for it. Normal track fee is $160/day + $10 Willow Springs fee.

But, I won't be able to get you the discount. It's too late. However, you can show up and pay on the spot. I believe it'll be $180. Plus, you have to tech your car or get there super early and possibly tech it there.

All of the info regarding that day can be found here: http://speedtrialusa.com/

As the date gets closer, I'll contact everyone who wants to join in with the particulars and the discount.

Here's another site that offers track days, but they're more expensive: http://speedventures.com/
