Anyone Live In Cali?

Well,

Looks like I will be moving out to California in may/june. My job will be in torrance but I am looking for places around the area.

Any good places to look at as far as apartments etc?

Any help would be much appreciated.

thanks.

Also, what are the laws for cars out there? I currently am in Illinois (chicago).

Welcome to the golden state! Torrance is in so cal. As far as laws go, the ones highway patrol and any law enforcement agency are picky about are no tint on front windows and front license plate. Other than that youre good to go. Any other question feel free to ask. Oh and apartment hunting, wouldnt know about torrance cause i live in the valley.

Completely up to you. I have front tint, but the minute i see a cop, my windows go down rain or shine. Thats just me though. Plus you will appreciate the tint during the hot summers. If you dont wanna deal with that then i may suggest taking them off. Its fairly easy considering ive gotten two fix it tickets which requires taking them off.

For Torrance (I used to live there in high school, that was 10 years ago), you want to live close to Rancho Palo Verdes, or in Rancho Palo Verdes. If you aren't able to live there, close to South High (Specifically around PCH and Anza ave) is a pretty decent place to live.
p.s. PCH and Anza has got apt complex's after apt complex's

It varies jurisdiction by jurisdiction. Some LEOs know how hot it gets and even have tint on their car. They usually have more important things to do, but if they want to pull you over, they will use any violation they can see as a probable cause for the stop.

No, I would leave it. The only time I was ever pulled over for tint was when I had just bought the car, and it had mirror tint on it. By mirror, I mean it...you can just look at the window from the outside and see a perfect reflection.

Torrance is a nice area, at least when i went there a few years ago. Back when I was job searching, I was hoping for a job in that area.

Based on your user name, I'm guessing you live in the wrong valley ;-) I live in the real valley ;-)

Welcome to Socal.
I roll the fronts down half so they can see in. Local police usually get you if you draw attension to yourself. Run around like a racer they run thru the list on you. (tint, mods)

Wife works in Torracne on the other side of P.V. off Vermont & 91, maybe you'll see here in the TL. I don't see to many apts that way though.

Enjoy the weather & ocean breeze

like everyone said...tint...roll ur windows down. thats what i do. but there are alwayss those cold ass days...then u just gotta risk it but u should be ok if u dont do 0-60 runs at every stop lights.

and front plate, even when your parked they can still give u a ticket. my friends got one haha, so zip tie it if u have to (thats what i do now lol)

CA is so poor now they will pull you over for anything.

redondo beach is a great city to live in, right next to torrance. its near the beach and rent is pretty cheap. Note: some parts of torrance are way way close to redondobeach. there is also a torrance acura that is just great. but its actually closer to Palos Verdes.
