3G TL OEM Base Decklid Spoiler (04-08) and Carbon Fiber OEM spoiler

Category: Accessories
Price: $0
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part Fits (you may select multiples): TL 3G
Location (State/Prov/Terr): HI
Item Condition: Used

Parting ways with my OEM base decklid spoilers since I've installed a Type-S decklid spoiler on my car.

First up is a WDP decklid spoiler, paint is still in great condition and I just cleaned it up and put a fresh coat of wax on it. Asking $175, this color has been discontinued already if you were to try to buy a new one.

I also already performed the horrendous task of removing 9 year old double-stick tape from the bottom of the spoiler, cleaning it and replacing it with new double-stick tape. I used some very strong tape, it's 3M 5952 VHB and ensured that I degreased the bottom (I used Rapid Prep) and then cleaned it with IPA and allowed it to flash off prior to applying the tape.

Next up is a carbon fiber over-layed OEM base decklid spoiler. I have a lot of labor on making this part and it's a one-off, I won't be doing anymore of these. Price drop --> $180 shipped, ready to go.

For information on how I put carbon fiber on the spoiler and more pics of the process see here:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...=891889&page=4

I used a UV stable epoxy in the making of this and protected it with a UV protecting and highly weather/chemical resistant urethane clear coat so yellowing will not be a problem as long as the clear coat is not removed.

Never intended to sell this and I won't be making any more. I had this on the car for a little over a month before I replaced it with a Type-S decklid spoiler.

This one has also been cleaned up, the old double-stick was removed and new 3M VHB 5952 was applied.

I'm looking for local Hawaii (Oahu) sales only at this time, I will entertain shipping these at a later date.

As a last note, I have 1x brand new OEM spring, nuts and template for installation of the decklid spoiler. It will go with the spoiler that is sold first.

For the second spoiler I sell I have the original nuts off my WDP spoiler and will include a copy of the template.

I can include a printed copy of installation instructions from Acura to buyers.

I have 1x OEM box, so I have the CF spoiler packed in it already with the trunk lid spring, OEM template and OEM installation instructions.

I'll ship 1x spoiler at this time since I have good packaging for it. It's going to be $230 shipped for the CF spoiler if anyone is interested still.

Buyer should be aware the back-side of it is wavy since the carbon was lifting off on the back when I over layed the spoiler. The front still has some imperfections in the epoxy (runs) as well that can be seen in different lighting conditions from different angles.

Can the waviness be ground or sanded down to make it flush again without impacting the carbon fiber or clear coat?

Nope, the clear coat is thin. The waviness on the back can't be fixed, if you were to try to you would sand right through the carbon.

The minor imperfections in the epoxy on the front side could be fixed, but it would need a new layer of clear coat put on it as you'd have to take it off in order to sand down the epoxy some.

Two options..

1 - use the included instructions and template to make holes to fit the spoiler

2 - cut the studs off and fit it using just double-stick tape

I recommend using the instructions and mounting it with the studs and nuts, someone has already managed to damage the paint on my trunk in an attempt to remove my black type-S spoiler that is mounted with 4 studs.

Thieves will probably steal it if it is installed with just tape.
