Open manifold to clean buildup?

Clogged pcv valve i neglected. Lotta carbon buildup in my intake, backside of throttle body. Is it good to split open the intake and clean everything then reseal it? Ive seen a few guys do this for various reasons but some say its a waste itll just get carbon buildup again. But mine looks pretty bad. I figured its probably best to get it cleaned out then of course replace pcv valve right? Or is it a waste of time trying to get the buildup out?

A picture displaying the extent of said carbon build-up would help?
Moreover, if the pcv is old non-functioning OEM, now would be a good time to replace.

im not at home atm to take pic but looking into opening where throttle body was removed it looks like a solid coating of black chalk on everything. Backside of throttle body is coated pretty good also. And yea i attempted to replace valve but it broke off so im gonna get the rest out when i take off the cover

Just be careful if you attempt to clean both sides of the throttle body not to manually move (like with a brush or something) the TB butter fly valve.
Your DBW throttle position sensor will not like it & issues may present themselves.
Make sure to have enough and let the carb cleaner chemicals (cut the grime) do the work for you.

its ok to slightly press it tho right? Like with the rag when cleaning? Just dont push it open?

All I know is that with DBW TB's it's best to avoid the TB butter fly, in terms of manual movement, when cleaning.
I found the below procedure for some guidance from the 07-08 TL service manual.

Throttle body cleaning

If the throttle body is completely removed from vehicle, can you then push open the valve to clean? Or never press it open?

1) Listen to what ETCG says, while disconnecting the battery, starting @3:24 - 3:50 minutes.

2) Starting @26:55 minutes, watch how ETCG cleans the TB.
a. Listen carefully to what he says @27:04 minutes!

If you mess up DBW throttle sensor position, in your TB by moving the buttery fly valve, you may need the below procedure or its aftermarket equivalent to reposition it for a proper idle.
