ATLP *vs* RV6 J-Pipe... Pros/Cons Please
Jpipe are a total waste of money, gives zero power and are made from cheap chinese steel. They look like crap once then corrode/rust. Already have change my 2 flex pipes on mine. Unless you plan on getting a full dual pipe, then you get power from it... there's a lot of better mods you can get for your TL than a Jpipe trust me.
Jpipes do result in gains and that is proven. The factory setup on the cars is very restrictive due to the way the pipes merge together (at what is almost a right angle) and due to the fact that they contain the third catalytic converter. We had dynoed a 3rd Gen TL with an intake, Jpipe, tune and exhaust and it picked up 20hp/20tq. It was closer to 25hp at peak but due to the fact that I do not have the graph handy I'll keep it safe (I'll do some more digging though!).
The more you have on the vehicle the more you will see out of it, but it is still a great way to get your feet wet and pickup some HP for less than $500!
Nothing has changed, other than pricing, since the thread was posted! Our Jpipes are still hand made from T304 stainless here in the USA. Flanges are CNC cut, everything is tig welded, and they come with a 2 year warranty against manufacturer defects! We had to bump pricing up a bit as manufacturing costs kept going up and up and we did not want to compromise on quality.
You can find them on our webstore HERE, but if you are interested feel free to send me a PM with your zipcode and I can get you the best pricing possible!
