I understand most of the time of labor you paying is for paint correction and surface prep. I call 2 local shops and both of them quoted at $1600 plus tax and yes they are Opti-coat pro certified.

That's actually not a bad deal to be honest! It's just throwing me off that they gave a quote without seeing the car. Just be aware that estimates go up since it's hourly correction. I would ask to see some of their work before turning the key over, and also have them give you a second estimate when they see the car.

Quick question tho is the 2009-2012 steering wheel is a direct bolt on?

Spent the afternoon cleaning up a few of the cars yesterday and it gave way for some nice pictures with the DSLR. The first picture, however, was taken the day before at Willow Run Airport, for those of you who can appreciate the airport's historical significance to US history.
I thought this was a funny shot, the first thing that came to mind when I looked up at this was "Luke, I am your father."
"Yo dawg, i heard you like Japanese boats, so I put a boat in your boat so you can boat while you boat."
For those opti-coat fans, this is what OBP looks like after a simple wash. Notice the reflection of the cars and you can catch a glimpse of my reflection taking the picture in the second shot as well! That's how much paint clarity it gives

I know right! I honestly love opti-coat. Cquartz is supposed to have more depth of shine. I haven't noticed enough of a difference to justify the extra cost. There is a new version of Cquartz called Finest Reserve that I have yet to personally see on a car, so I don't know, that one might be worth the difference!

well now you make me want to correct my RL paint then put on the Opti gloss coat tho. I tried the gloss on my TL and RL headlight and they held up pretty good so far.

Long overdue bump... I realize half my pictures went down with photobucket pulling it's little stunt earlier this year... I'll be working to get my pictures back now that I have more time on my hands, it's been a VERY busy summer for me...
Now as far as the car goes, I'm 6 miles short of ringing in 100K. I gave the car a celebratory wash, coating the seats with CQuartz and the carpet as well. I thought it would be happy but it gave me a gift of it's own with alternator failure today Interestingly enough, the alternator still charges, but I have a habit of leaving the car plugged in when I don't use it. My genius self decided not to remove the trickle charger this morning and it fried the internal voltage regulator. Lesson learned for the future. I sourced a local used OEM replacement with 67K miles that's getting installed tomorrow. Welcome 100K I guess

Nope its call 105k celebration time.... Strange that my RL is at 119k miles and I would predict the A/C compressor will give out before the alternator. You better restore all of those pictures after all I bought the RL because seeing your thread and Tiomang gallery thread. On the real note when you do 105k services ask the mechanic/shop/ dealer to check for oil pump assembly oil leak unless you want to pay another $950 down the road later.

But seriously, I'm glad to hear that, it means a lot I stumbled on a few comments like that in and around the forum and it's nice to see people notice what I'm doing to the car, thanks man

My car got ahead of itself and celebrated the 105K mark like 2 years ago. It failed in exactly the way you described when the oil pump seal decided it wasn't gonna do the seal part no more

lucky me I bought the car from a previous owner who working at Acura dealer and had everything service up to date, hell I can't even change the cabin air filter and air cleaner since they already did that like a year ago. However I spoke to the tech who worked on my RL why you didn't tell the previous owner to seal the oil pump when he did the TB last year.... B My has not show sign of leak yet but if it does I gonna spend $950 for a $10 part, BTW the guy was a head Tech too.

Super clean car man, I see you mentioned a trickle charger so I'm assuming you don't daily drive the car? I really wish I could keep my car that clean, its my daily and with the amount of driving I do its tough. I'm lucky if I get to do a maintenance wash once every couple weeks as of late.

Yikes :/ That sucks man...
Thank you sir! Yup, the car doesn't really get daily-ed much to be honest. That makes keeping it clean so much easier (aside from the opti-coat). I actually looked at my maintenance log, and I drove the car a whopping 491 miles since August 3rd when I changed the oil. I will admit, this is an extreme situation, as I was gone for 3 weeks on vacation in August and put 5,200 miles on a rental. When I came back, I drove another car for 6 weeks for work/school, logged a tick under 5K on that one. I log a lot of miles, just not on my cars

Nice bro, keep it up. Not many super clean KB1 RL's like yours around anymore, I'd preserve it as much as possible. I bought my car as a daily driver since I already have a garage queen, but now that I've had it for a little while, if I could I'd park it like yours and drive an actual beater to work/school.

The car's been doing wayyyy too much sitting lately, I'm not going to lie. It's still just a tick over 101K. It's funny, I've been facing the same struggle you have with the big question: What next? The only part I've decided is the RL isn't going anywhere anytime soon, but the Camry is up in the air by the end of this year... Depending on what I get,it might stay under current duty, but I still have time to decide. Odds are the Camry will be returned to stock and sold within the next 12 months
But yay RL! Still love it as much as the day I bought it I went from having my own garage to underground heated spaces, but luckily the complex is ok with me doing basic stuff on the cars. If not I have a buddy with a dedicated space I can use until my lease ends in May In the grand scheme, it's a year without my own garage (First world problems, right??)

Beats driving on rocks when I do take it out in the cold I saw a GTR sporting Pilot Sport Cups last week... Balls of steel man
I replaced the aging X-Ice's I had with another set of identical, brand new tires. With everything being said and done, after all of the incentives the manager at Discount gave me for the President Day sale, the Discount Tire credit card instant rebate (I just paid the balance off right away, but did it to take advantage of the rebate), and the money I fetched for the old tires, it ended up being 475$ for a brand new set of tires with their warranty/replacement certificates. I did the math at the time, and it was steal, especially considering I got the old set for next to nothing and got decent miles out of them. I knew my X-Ice's were aging, and most shops won't touch tires beyond a certain age, so this worked out for me.
Bridgestone wasn't running an incentive. Between that, and the higher price of the Blizzaks, it would have been about 200$ more total. And I believe the Pilot Alpine winters I wanted were something to the effect of 100$ more a tire, so 400$ more, which didn't seem worth it to me.

Looks like I'll be driving the RL more frequently for the next few months...
https://acurazine.com/forums/car-tal.../#post16187658
On the plus side, this virtually guarantees that I'll be in a newer car by the end of this year, assuming they total it out.

Thanks I'm happy everyone is OK and the other driver admitted fault on site. I have a few avenues I was debating... I've had my heart set on an F10 M5 for years now. But with the new generation going AWD, I'm thinking of putting that purchase on hold for something different until those come off leases.
Another route I was debating was this: my dad's been wanting to get out of his LS430 into an LS460 AWD for some time. If he does that, I wanted to offer him full market value on the LS430 and drive that for a few years.
Since I can get employee discount on both Ford and GM vehicles, I was also debating getting a rock bottom lease for 36-48 months, but I don't know how I'd feel driving a car that's not mine to be honest.
Ultimately, I think I'll look at reliable, semi-luxurious vehicles under 20K until I can get into an AWD M5... The first vehicle that honestly comes to mind, and I looked at this car back in the day when I purchased my RL and I still love the body style is a '06-'11 GS430... It fits the bill and can hold me over for a few years without the confines of a lease and without the confines of leasing... I'd honestly MUCH rather cash out a car then lease or finance it to be honest.

If you ever took over your dad LS430 it will be the best decision you ever made and it will be his mistake to jump into the LS460. GS430 ONLY available for 2006 and anything after 2007 its GS460 (literally a LS460 motor and transmission and air suspension on a GS chassis). LS430 is a solid car and the LS460 is a PITA if your dad ever decided to purchase one make sure all the control arm still good (there are 8 pcs up front and 4 pcs in the rear with the cost around $2800 Ebay OEM) You will have to replace the whole knuckle unit for the front lower ball joint.
Well you can see my TL-S in the background lol.

I can't comment on a TL-S but I recently picked up a 6spd TL as a beater so I can get some work done on the RL.
It's only been a few months but IMO, the TL is a downgrade compared to the RL in every aspect, except for the 6MT. Sure it's sportier but it's the little things that the RL has/does that make it such a great car. You really don't notice it till you don't have it anymore.
My appreciation for the RL has grown greatly in the last few months, gonna be a great year

As much as I loved the TL-S when I drove it back in the day, the same reasons that drove me to the RL still stand...
