Acura 3G TL Facebook group

About 2 months ago, while looking for a 3g Acura in Craigslist, I came across a seller that informed me of a nationwide uasquad, of their website and then I found the Facebook page.
I then joined said Facebook page about 2 months ago thinking I might clean some useful info from it.
I hope I don’t offend anyone here but I can’t handle the butchering of the English language of the posters on the page. I’ve already gotten into arguments with some of them over the use of the word “mines” instead of “mine”, “there tl” instead of “their tl”.
I’ve even had one of them send me a profane almost x-rated message and then block me so I can’t even respond to them.
I guess I’m just too old for terms like “slammed”, “bagged” and I also too old to understand the attraction to having your wheels slanted at an almost 45 degree angle.

Rant over. I feel better. Somewhat.

I don’t even know what slammed and bagged means. I even got on some of their cases for spending thousands on rims, wheels etc and then not spending $50 on some hood struts. Propping the hood up with an umbrella. Smh.

I wish you, teh CL lived in my city. I’d love to learn how to do what you do. I’ve been following your $500 thread. I used to be a painter at a body shop. Worked my way up from wash boy. Taking apart body panels, interiors and putting them back to together I can do. I wish I could do my own major mechanical work.
I have done the occasional shock and springs, my own brakes and minor things, but I’d love to take an engine out and put it back in.

Thanks..

Honestly, as long as you have the proper tools/space it's pretty straight forward. Definitely a daunting task if you've never done it but with that said, it's definitely doable. (Label EVERYTHING lol)

If it makes you feel better, I've had some years of trial/error..

I'm active on several automotive related forums (you know "Old-School" ones like this one), and even a moderator on a few; the consensus is forums are dying because of the Facebook related groups, however, there is a group, myself included, who think forums may have a resurgence. Why? Idiotic butchering of the language is one of the reasons, but the biggest is it is very difficult to search a Facebook groups for historical information where as here you can perform a search and it goes all of the way back to the inception of AcuraZine. Priceless.

Edit:
  • Bagged = Replacing springs and other suspension components with pneumatic bags so you can tune the ride height at will.
  • Slammed = Lowering your car down to the stops (either with purpose built suspension components or "bags")

I die a little bit inside when I read some posts on there but that's the thing about Facebook, almost everyone has Facebook. Over a billion.
You're going to run into people who just made it through high school, and people that are highly educated with a Masters degree.
A Facebook group made for a car that's over a decade old, and can be bought for less than 5k, you're going to run into more of the former.

If you're talking about the FB group with over 20,000 members, that's a lot of people and unfortunately, more than half the posts will be from individuals who didn't pursue higher education.

Try not to let it irk you too much

WHo gives a shit about numbers, I care about quality

But since we talkin' numbers :

that's 2462 FB users logging in here anonymously

AZ has about 700K threads with 13 MILLION posts and almost 300K members.

We're doing okay and I'll bet dollars to dimes that many FB threads just link to here

It's pretty rare to see someone link to acurazine on FB, usually they'll just post "search it on acurazine".

I'd be willing to bet a very good chunk of the guests are bots and spiders

Also stop exposing us with hidden status

I’ve referred some to this site. I’m close to unfollowing them but it is kind of cheap entertainment.

I feel like hanging out with guy that are OG owner since new really nice since everyone know how to mod a $36K car where 3G TL now these day could easily bought around $3k-$5k and the first thing kids (typical 17-20 years old) will do is "slam" for the look but fail to notice maints coming up and result in surprise. Well if you follow them on FB I am sure you see alot of ball joint being broken clean...... surprise, surprise......

Seems to be a common trend, not just for the TL, but for other cars and car cultures. Back when i had my 93 Accord, I use to be quite active on CB7Tuner.com. Some recommended a FB group, so i joined. It was okay at first, but then the negatives kicked in. There are tons of trolls, people disrespecting other people's cars, misinformation, laziness on searches(happens here too for sure), and more of the negative stuff. The FB group was nothing near a community driven forum that had tons of information and members that were actually helpful.
After that, I stayed away from all FB car groups

these types of threads always lead back to bro rape. I'd be cautious Teh CL.
but yes...I left the facebook groups long ago, after trying to warn some members of a predatory modification guy...
I got slammed...very cliquey like in high school so I bailed after that. Buyer beware you get what you deserve vaya con dios motherfuckers!

a 3g tl group on facebook with over 20,000 members, including most of the people on here.

probably bit creepy but i like to fk with people that post their car on that group and get something new or get in an accident and then go to their acurazine thread and post "this thread needs an update "

The Honda facebook group is the same, most of the weird stuff is the Civic owners. There is a V6 Accord specific group that is a lot better, thats where I found the guy who built up my retrofits.

The 3G Facebook group is a total disaster. It's mainly kids that have no idea how to even put gas in a car.

Same thing with the Acura Legend forums/facebook options. Forums very slow, but easy to find information; facebook more active, but mostly fools/ uneducated
people on there.

I’ve started blocking people that use “mines” over and over in place of “mine”.
Or “there tl” instead of “their tl”. I’m close to including the “YIHB, YOHB” and “lets see them” whatever, every day.

This way I don’t see them. There are a lot of posts that say they have 6 comments for example, and I click on them and see nothing.
Some of them, before I’ve blocked them, have told me they’ve read this thread. Lol

The 3G TL Facebook group is pure entertainment for me. The lack of intelligence is astounding, but nonetheless amusing.

Fuck the 3G TL Facebook Page.. Tell them Majofo fucked their moms and his dick is twice as big as theirs, and that's when he folds it in half

Now the AcuraZine Facebook Page.. that's where it's at.

I love trolling that page... Some people have no clue what they are talking about. Also love the few that post on everything thinking they know the car inside and out. Telling peoples to get tints and don't buy a 3G because the suspension will need to be refreshed after 100k miles and cost too much...

If you need a laugh, check it out!
