I found an Unlocked Hondata Flashpro for RDX for $280.
The guy is an Acura/Honda Tech and told me this will work for the RDX 07-12, TL 5AT/6MT Base 07-08, TL Type-S 5AT/6MT 07-08.
The Hondata box and Unit clearly say Acura RDX on it with no mention of TL anywhere.
I hooked it up to the TL and it gave me the option to use stock calibrations(even for my CT Surpercharger) for my car. I thought it was funny that it allowed me to also calibrate my entire Engine and save the configurations.
However I was unable to lock the TL to the Hondata unit due to it "not being an Acura RDX". I tried hooking it up to my 2012 MDX and it didnt allow me entry. This seems to me its compatible and ready for the 07-08 TL.
My question is, will I be able to use this Unit for my CT supercharger? Is there a way to Lock the Unit to the TL? If so, how?

Can’t use an Rex flashpro on a TL. It’s locked by base code. Sell it and buy a ktuner if you want unlocked base codes, but I don’t think ktuner has boost tables for the 3rd gen TL yet.

Well it does work on the TL. Im able to modify timing, VTEC, a/f ratios ect.
if you can't lock it to the TL, then you wont be able to Upload the modified map.
(hint, it has to do with the serial number on the back of the flashpro unit. what does your serial number say? something like this?? RDX-12397-flashpro?)
the first thing my e-turner asked me was for the flashpro unit's serial number. (hint hint hint hint hint hint motherfucking hint)
I'm not saying that. I'm saying maybe you can manipulate the serial number to match a TL's Flashpro. ( I wont give you mine!!!!!)
because my tuner asked me for my serial number so that he could manipulate the maps. (if flashpro wasnt dependent on the serial number, then my tuner wouldnt have asked me for it)
ya get my drift?
ya smell me?
Do you hear me knocking? if so, let me in...!
but if that doesnt work, then maybe ya...a new one is in your cards

Tuner tells me to stick with Flashpro while inquiring about my 17CRV.

its because ktuner won't let you access the software unless you have access to the hardware and connect it to the pc, or if you have a license from them to tune so that it will unlock all the base maps for you to use. *I think we both talking about the same tuner right ? *

so basocaly pretend to buy a tl flashpro and snatch the serial number on the side of the box? FP-TL-XXXX?
Called Hondata, they said the modules are specific to the model..
Hell no!
I was thinking of typing some random numbers. FP-TL-1234
I wouldnt commit fraud because then you're screwing some one elses flashpro.
and that wouldnt be very nice of you and would make you thieving scum, which we may or may not ban you over.
if it's only 4 digits, it wouldnt be hard to guess something to see if it would work. you can even try the RDX's number but obvies replace RDX for TL.

Lmao, I think ill just buy a new one for the TL this friday it'll be my birthday!

Ah, didn't know the exact details but it does make sense now. I'm sure we are talking about the same person.

yeah it’s a shame they lock down their software like that. Hardware wise it is good since you can take ktuner and use it on any car on their list as long as the unit is unlocked
Do they not have a program where they'll buy it back from you at a discount and allow you to buy the correct model and pay the difference?
Customer service, mother fuckers...
PS, contact Dom for your tuning...or questions on tuning...he works late nights and he's diligent as hell. I love him.
I would pay him whatever...
he was more than fair to me and helped me a TON diagnose problems I ended up having with the car.
Way above and beyond.
Love the guy, seriously. He cares and doesn't give up easily.

Very patient with me, as I was trying to figure out a RPM surge/Spike....ended up being a vacuum leak, but Dom helped me through it
Right, above and beyond...
his job is to tune an assumed sorted car...not diagnose all the weaknesses that upping the performance would cause.
Cool ass mother fucker.
I had never felt the RPM spike before until i plugged in the 08 type-s ECU.
but had been there forever, as I had pulled the vacuum lines from the motor mounts LONG AGO.
a quick trip to Autozone to pick up a few vacuum plugs and no more RPM surges.

I called Hondata and they don't do that unfortunately.
The tuning shop I ordered my Hondata(should be in Tuesday) charges $500 for the tune. It's on a dyno but I'd rather go to Dom. I don't want Dominick telling me, "you embarrass me!!", When he finds out I spent $350 more than I should have on a tune.
LMAO...
well the good thing with DOM is he won't nickel and dime you on every single updated tune...you fuck with something...your boost or something else...you go datalog and send to him and he perfects the A/F and timing etc...he's the man...and he'll do it indefinitely.
Cheap IMO...
you can always go with him first to work out the kinks and then dyno tune down the line....I'm sure it'll be better to have a stock baseline for him to keep track of so you can dyno tune and he can continue working with you afterward.
He tried to refund me the money too when I sold the Flashpro and sold the car...
A real gentleman.
The more I think about it...I paid him nearly nothing to be my best friend. He listened to my feelings and all. My Buddy, my BUDDY wherever I go he gets to go....
