2005 seat ripped. I Knew it was coming Dealer told me they all look like they are going to crack but said they don't. Looks like more is going to happen soon...anyone have a fix, band aid or way patch this?

I don't think I spot repair will work well since it looks like other spots are about to rip also. If I go the route of replacing the seat cover is there how to posted someplace?k

either way make sure to get a swatch of leather from them to make sure you get the right color -- pictures can be deceiving!
It took me about 5-6 hours to do full passenger seat (bottom seat cushion and upper as well), and I may pull it out and redo some of it because I got the spacing a bit off and there are some wrinkles
see post 5 here for instructions

Dealership lied to you. These seats always end up ripping. I wouldn't go OEM since the cost per section is roughly $600. To do just one seat will run you about $1,100-1,250 if you get OEM skins. At that cost, you can get the entire interior from leatherseats.com. You can buy a used seat bottom and just swap the entire bottom without having to pull off the leather skin and install another one. Ebay usually has used sections for sale at a decent cost.

Go with autocustomleathers, com Their prices are not only cheaper than leatherseats.com, but they'll sell you only the seat portions you need whereas leatherseats.com will ONLY sell the entire front or rear seat set. Having purchased replacement leather for my front seat tush surfaces, I recommend them highly!

I went with $30 seat covers instead of recovering the leather seats. Just don't see spending $1K for recovering the leather seats for a 11 yo, 115K mi car. So far so good; my kids (their car now) are not complaining.

I guess it's all in what you expect from the car, my 2006 has a similar number of miles on it, and if/when the leather rips, I'll gladly spend a good amount to put in new panels.

yeah there is no band aid and it will rip more in more places.
mine started like that last summer and now its ripped in 7 different spots.
I just put a seat cushion cover 2tone black/gray from ebay 12 dollars.Grey Car Seat Electric Heating Heated Heater Cushion Warmer Cover Pad W/ Switch
walmart also has similar for 8.
like MikeTc said cant justify spending 1k to restore front seats.

Bad news the vender mentioned dosent make a cover to match an if did have purchase as a full set ...an cost more then I wanna spend on my car that has 170,000 miles on it. I would think someone makes a patch of some sort that can be put on the inside of the oem cover an glued the patch to the oem cover. I would make a patch as big as possible to try prevent any more rips. Hope someone knows of such patch

I'll chime in a bit about the cost.
I can only speak for leatherseats.com. My wife had gotten me the full 100% leather kit from leather seats. It was to replace my worn leather in my 2004 TL. She got a discount because she ordered the kit on black friday. I paid extra for the shift boot but I should have also paid for the E-brake boot as well. Included in my kit: All interior seats (including headrests), all door panel arm rests and center console. Seats were a two tone color with double contrasting stitching. I did the install myself which you can see in my build thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-p...878670/page13/ (Page 13, just scroll down). The kit was a bit harder to install due to the fact it's the 100% full leather kit and it was thicker (Padding). Took me about 3 days to complete . Overall cost was $1,100? give or take. Now, if you go with their basic kit, you would pay about $799 and that's the entire interior. I'm sure if you mention you show this installed by someone on Acurazine, they might help with cost (I'd ask, but no guarantees). It brought new life into my TL. The interior had seen better days, though i'm very OCD with my TL. Even what I consider worn, was still a lot better than most other TL's around the same year. I know some will say even $799 is too much, which if you look at the cost per panel for OEM skin it's still cheaper than doing just one seat with the OEM stuff. Another option for those that want something cheaper is the slip on covers that Bruce sells. You could get a single color replacement Acura TL seat cover replacements or a custom color replacement Acura TL Diamond Pattern Seat Replacements - Custom color - EndLess RPM. Cheaper than leatherseats.com but keep in mind, these are just slip on covers. So you won't need to remove the existing leather seats to install them. They are still covers when compared to leatherseats.com which is replacement leather. You must contact Bruce to see if he has them in stock, I know they take a very long time to get even with the expedited service (4 weeks). I am not a fan of replacing just a section at a time. It never looks right when its new vs old, but if it works, it works. Here are some photos of my interior done.

God that looks so good I Love Boost. I just received a sample kit from leatherseats.com myself had some great conversations with Tim all in all i feel that quality is always the key for me especially when it will be something that gets used every day.

Thank you! Yes, Tim was extremely helpful. Most owners don't realize but the OEM stuff isn't full leather it's mostly vinyl. At least their deluxe kit is 90% full leather for the front seats, which is where most wear and tear happens anyway. Back seats don't take much of a beating unless you have car seats (kids) or carry passengers daily. Even their full vinyl kit is probably better than the OEM stuff and it starts at $669.00. Not a bad price to do the entire interior and you could save more on the costs if you are willing to do the install yourself. Overall, I don't have any issues with my kit. I get a ton of complements and people are baffled that my TL is 13 years old and looks the way it does.
