*sorry there is no CDX section, so I posted it here since it's very close to RDX
Finally! Lexus has had the NX since August of 2014. I'm interested to see how Honda/Acura works this out. The CDX uses a more Honda based infotainment system; it does not have the dual screen layout found in most Acuras. I know they are thinking of moving over to the precision cockpit style interior, but I do not see that happening anytime soon. I think the CDX and the new ILX will share the same powertrain, which is the 1.5T and the 8 DCT.

It better have that turbo!
I had a HR-V EX-L loaner. Not bad except for the 1.8L being so loud and very slow.

Add sh-awd and the 2.0L Turbo I4 at +300hp from the Civic Si and I will be the first in line to purchase one! The 1.5L turbo and/or 1.8L NA and I will skip it. I have to drive it if the 2.4L I4 is the top engine.
Good chance the CDX will still tow more than the sh-sh-awd MDX hybrid (want a city CUV/SUV with an option for hitch bike rack without spending +$40,000).

I'd go for it with the 1.5L.
Perfect size vehicle for the wife to run around with. She liked the HR-V. size over the RDX.
Interesting to hear it compared to the NX which is only slightly smaller than the RDX. To me the CDX would be more on the level of the QX30/GLA. The NX is quite a bit larger. I suspect Lexus will bring something smaller into the mix soon as well.

This.
The CDX is not going against the NX (not even close). It's aiming for the X1,Q3,QX30,GLA segment. If it only has more anemic engines, good luck selling it.

I doubt it will have an anemic engine. otherwise the CRV starts to look like a better option. Around 225-240 HP with that 8 speed DCT could be interesting.

IMHO while the 1.5T in the CRV is putting up good numbers, it is still anemic. I doubt Honda is going to push that 1.5t to 225-240hp although I do agree with you. Something that size with those power specs and SH-AWD should put up some very good performance numbers .
Sure, and then they'll also add nitrous and methanol cooling, because that's what enthusiasts want
I can't believe what people demand from car companies, and yet at the same time aren't willing to pay for any of it.
how many people were begging for a 300hp civic, and now that it's coming, are complaining about its price tag? Incredulous...
It's an entry level cross over. Keep your expectations realistic. No, not realistic in what you want. Realistic in what it's price point can actually give you.

This X Infiniti. Very well said and 100% correct. There is a tiny chance Honda will push the envelope given the expected price point and position in the class.

True enough - people are squawking about the Acura's hanging around the 280-300 hp range for a long time now. Seems plenty adequate for family-focused SUVs, especially ones that are not offered with sportier formats like the German SUVs. But what does Acura do to the (theoretical) CDX to entice buyers away from the HRV and CRV?

IMHO the CRV is not competing with the CDX at all. It is a completely different size class and position in the marketplace (entry level premium vs mainstream). However your question about the CDX vs HRV does make sense, but then you have to pay attention to the (hopefully) nicer quality interior and design in the CDX and the nicer exterior styling. Also the number 1 factor in the CDX's favour is the Acura badge on the front.
Take a look at the current MDX and Pilot, they are the exact same comparison as the CDX would be to the HRV. Then look and see why people go for the MDX over the Pilot even though they are really starting to get closer now than every before.
wouldnt it be cool if the eventual goal was to equip Acura's top trim with SH-SHAWD!??!?!
CDX with 330HP!
TLX with 330hP!
RDX with 330HP!
ILX with 330HP!

Of those cars on the list, the RDX is probably the only one that doesn't need a power bump. Simply needs SH-AWD back again. I don't ever see anyone complaining about power on this part of the forum.
It is hard for me to see the CDX in the same Car and Driver comparison test as the:
Audi Q3 200h//207tq
BMW X1 228hp/258tq
Lexus NX 235hp/258tq
MB GLA 208hp/258tq
Infiniti QX30 208hp/258tq
Lincoln MKC 240hp/270tq
Unless Honda/Acura give the CDX a (serious) boost in power, it will be nothing more than an expensive trim level above the top of line Honda HR-V. If the HR-V offers the same or better tech (Apple/Android carplay, Honda sensing/Acurawatch, color choices, etc...); I can see the same debates on this forum about the CDX value over the HR-V.
My vote: options for the 300hp Civic Si engine+sh-awd+Aspec suspension+sport plus mode for one model of the CDX
If the CDX does come to North America,Honda better do many things to make it better than the HR-V because the ILX is a epic failure.
832 sales in April.

There is about as much chance of a 300hp CDX as an NSX powered RDX.... My bet is it will have the 1.5T motor from the CRV to differentiate it from the HR-V. The NX and MKC aren't in the same class as the CDX.

This 100%. If this was Mercedes or infiniti or BMW or hell even lincoln, there would be a chance it would get a 300hp variant. But this is Honda. Slap in a 1.5T engine, boring driving dynamics, super loud interior, and in commercials show it on a race track!
Subcompact crossovers look nice but they are limited
the x1 lacks BMW strong points even though it's probably best out of the bunch
- no 50-50 weight distribution
- front wheel drive
q3 is slow
gla is slow and cramped
qx30 is blah and gla copy
Lexus ux will be ugly
I think it's best to shop for compact crossovers such as rdx, nx, q5, glc, x3, etc
The Q3 IMHO is a very good looking SUV even though it is small. I however do not understand why Audi is only making 207hp with a 2.0T while we have so many other mainstream brands with 2.0T's that make 250-270hp from an engine that size nevermind companies like mercedes that make 350hp out of a 2.0T. I think the q5 makes something like 230hp with it's 2.0t?

there is no way an entry level crossover is going to come with a sport turbo engine, sport suspension, sport inspired AWD, and a sport mode. Why? Who would buy it? It'd be more expensive than the up and coming CTR (essentially the same car, but jacked up, with a more luxury interior). They'd sell 10 per year. It's as sensible as a Murano convertible.

Hey the Murano convertible probably sold more than the RLX has
No matter how much wishing we make, Acura/Honda really sticks with HP hierarchy for each model. The lower model shall not exceed in hp of the next model up kinda philosophy.
ILX 200hp <TLX 206hp or 290hp <RLX 310hp or 377hp
CDX 200hp? <RDX 279hp <MDX 290hp or 321hp
I think the best we can hope for is the 1.5L Turbo with a hp bump (190-210hp/179tq) and the 8DCT. I don't know if the 2.4L i-Vtec will fit in the HR-V engine bay? Zero chance for sh-awd. If Acura keeps the curb weight under 3200lbs might have pretty good power-to-weight ratio for "decent" acceleration with the CR-V 1.5L Turbo.
I was checking out MSN Auto section and they talked about cars for 2018 (or 2019). Nothing from Acura: Future Cars! 2018 and Beyond
Acura better hurry up if they are going to introduce the CDX and be ready to update the RDX with more features and power ASAP. The CDX will already be a behind before it hits the road if they use the 1.5LTurbo+8DCT compared to the new offerings in the CDX to RDX price range. The Jaguare E-Pace with 340hp supercharged V-6 get my vote as the best looking of the new bunch!
