Updated mod list. Last thing on the to-do is a 3.06 rear diff, which I'm trying to figure out the logistics on the install. Otherwise after that I'm D-O-N-E until a cam, errrrr, I mean, I'm done. Seriously. Definitely. Maybe. I think.

Went to opening weekend at Beech Bend Dragway in Bowling Green, KY this past Saturday. It was a beautiful day outside, although I was hoping it was going to be a little bit cooler to help with the ETs. It was sunny and in the 60s by the time racing started.
2 years ago when I went down I ran a 13.912 @ 103.02. Saturday I ran a 13.553 @ 103.19. While a 13.5 was what I was shooting for, I was surprised I didn't pick up any MPH. Not sure how that happened but who knows. It was a little breezy so maybe there was a headwind at the finish line since I was 2 mph faster at the 1/8 mile than last time. Odd. Anyway, Sapphire pleased me with the mid-13 pass taking out a Firebird WS6 on the first run, but the 2.65 gears just kill my 60ft times. Until I change them out a sub-2 second 60ft is impossible. The two later passes were slower and I was destroyed first by a low 12 second GXP then by a mid 10 second CTS-V.
There were some amazing street cars there. A big turbo Supra who just couldn't hook but the damn thing sounded like a missile, a few built C7s, a ZL1, a pair of Hellcats going at it and of course your array of Fox bodied Stangs.

Mid 13s @ 103mph is a strong car ... no doubt gearing will get your 60's down.
Well done Todd!

Thank you sir! Yeah even 3.06s should get me into the low 13s. Now if I went crazy with 3.91s it'd be close to a 12 second car, but I just can't imagine cruising at 3 grand RPM on road trips.

Finally got around to debadge phase 2. Took off the custom Road / Track emblem. So fresh and so clean. Figured I'd do something small to Sapphire this afternoon since I made a long awaited BIG purchase for her this morning.

Yes, more aggressive than the 3.06s, but not just that, true posi. The 3.06s I was going to get would still be in an open differential, so this is not only a better gear ratio, but will be able to better put the power to the ground. And in the end it'll cost me much, much less than a Getrag unit with all the other components I'd need to change. And still those would be 3.06 gears, unless I went all out for 3.91s, but then I'd be sacrificing highway cruising. This should be the perfect middle ground. Got it for a steal, too. He has way more than double in it what I got it for.
I still need to actually get it. He made a wood shipping crate for it and FedEx'd it today. I'm going to get a quote or two from local shops before deciding if I'll have someone do it or I'll tackle the install myself. I was told it's easier than installing headers, which I was able to do, so it's tempting to save some $$$ and do it myself.
Hey! Well, admittedly, I have thought about putting it back on when I'm seeing 12-13 MPG around town gas mileage, but I definitely wouldn't go back once the gears are in.
Sh*t just got real.

Got a great price on my ms6 on trade-in, worked the numbers and drove her home. She's a 2009 charger r/t with the road & track package which adds the chrome 20" wheels, performance suspension and steering, leather/alcantra seats from the srt8 and a better flowing intake from the daytona/srt8. Specs are 368hp & 395ft lbs tq, which is plenty to get myself in trouble with. The color is called deep water blue pearl.
I never expected to hold onto a car for this long after only having the MazdaSpeed6 for a year, but here we are. She's showing some minor wear on the interior with a few small tears in the drivers seat and scuffs from the two crazy kids that ride in the back. On the exterior she's suffered approximately 12 door checks on the passenger rear door from my boy getting into my wife's Rav4, so I'll have PDR done eventually to fix that. Otherwise she's just suffered the typical bug splats and rock chips on the front bumper and some small scratches from parking lot morons. I'm still thrilled to drive her and the HEMI really never gets old, it just needs some go-fast parts from time to time to keep my interest up. I'm really looking forward to the 3.23s once I gather up all the required parts. She'll need new front tires very soon. My wife and I will be taking Sapphire on a road trip to Savannah, GA and Charlston, SC in June to celebrate my 40th, so I'll get some good road miles on her then and likely hit 80,000 miles on the way home.
Some stats...
Current Miles = 78,898
Miles since purchase = 41,386
Average MPG = 18.14
Total Fuel Cost = $6,652.70
Cost per Mile = $0.16
Cost per Day = $4.58

Thanks fellas!
I'm itching to get this 3.23 in there. It turns out I need the back half of a 6.1 drive shaft to mate up to the front half of my 5.7 drive shaft. The SRT diff uses a 4 bolt flange, where the stock R/T uses a 3 bolt, so it's just a matter of slipping off the back half of the drive shaft when installing the diff and slipping a 6.1 on. I had to locate a used one and try not to pay an arm and leg for it. I have one on it's way, so should be here in a couple days. Then it's just buying new hardware and borrowing a big torque wrench, then I'll be able to plan the installation.
