I’m curious how many of us were the original owners of their 3rd generation TL and still own our cars. Guessing there might not be that many of us left. I have 158,000 on my 05 six speed manual with nav. While I am always looking at the new cars coming out, I have yet to find anything that makes me want to trade it in. Still really love the car!
Another OG with a 6MT w/ ~73KMi. Representin' since April 05 and still love the car too.
Nothing has caught my eye either in the way of trading. But wifey is looking to replace her 08 CR-V with something else (OMG does the 17 CR-V suck!) so when we go by the Subaru dealer to look at the Forester I will see if there is an MT BRZ there I can take out. Not that I'd get one anytime soon but just to test out future curiosity. My hunch is I'll like lots about it except how loud it's going to be inside it. Kids are off to college in a couple years and I'd definitely look to get something smaller and less sedan-like. A used "something fun". Nothing too exotic since, well, I'll have kids in college
Originally picked up the TL new in April 2005.
152K miles or so; original transmission.
I looked at possible replacements starting in 2009 or so, but haven't been enamored with anything else yet.
Original owner with only 58,770 miles. Just added the NavTool 3.0 with back-up camera and Iphone mirroring. Stero system upgraded awhile back.
The fact your TL still looks sick next to a much newer audi is a testament to how nice the 3G really was. Had they made it available with SH-AWD or even standard AWD. I would be in a 2008 typs S AWD right now.
Original owner 06 with 115K on the clock from 7/2006; it's now shared by my kids (17& 19 yo). Replaced compliance bushings, front & side motor mounts and starter. Nothing major and hope to stay that way until the kids are done with college. I got a C300 in 2015 when I gave the TL to the kids. I still love driving the TL a couple times a week to give it some highway time than just around town driving.
original owner here... back in 2008 i flew from san diego to san jose to pick up my wdp 6mt type s with ebony interior because there were only 3 left in that combo on the west coast. had price negotiated before i landed and picked the car up with 4 miles on it and drove it all the way home.
recently installed new axles (raxles) and the car drives like new again! also put in a nexus 7 (https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-a...camera-953237/) and that really freshened up the interior...people are always surprised when they hear my car is older than 3 years haha. interior is mint! currently at 113k miles and it's my daily driver!

I am the original owner of a NBP 2008 TL Type S with 89k miles.. It's immaculate and still gets a lot of compliments. My wife has a 2013 Dark Cherry MDX with 23k miles. Both have been great vehicles. Currently Acura doesn't have anything which would make me want to trade in the TLS. However, I have been looking at a Lexus RCF which is very nice. But at $60k, I prefer to keep on driving my TL for a few more years.
Orig owner new march 2005. - black mt gps now at 165000mi still going strong. Driving it until it dies. Traded in a s2000 for it then got the itch again and in 2006 got a rx7 for fun.
I bought my 2007 MRP Type S on January 30th,2007. I have 137,000 miles and have performed all required maintenance. Transmission was rebuilt at 80K. For the past two years I've thought of selling just because of the price difference between regular and premium fuel but so far I haven't.
Bought my WDP '05 TL in March of '06. It has traveled 142,000 miles with only a few minor repairs (a couple of seized brake calipers and one failed 4th gear pressure switch in the transmission). Timing belt changed @ 105K. No issues with the transmission except for that one failed pressure switch. I drain 3 quarts of transmission fluid and replace them every year. My college age son drives it mostly now. I shifted the car to him when I got my '14 Cadillac CTS (V6) in March of '15. I still love the TL's styling and driving dynamics, although I do enjoy the effortless power and superb RWD handling of the CTS, my first car from an American car company, by the way (yes, I do know the TL was made in Ohio....). The TL, however, is not the oldest car in my stable since I still own my first car, a '73 Alfa Romeo Spider, that I bought new right before I graduated from College.
Original Owner, 2004 auto with original transmission! Approximately 163K miles. Little issues: the rearview dimming mirror no longer works...bought some silly clip-on mirror instead. The scrolling cover over the cupholders in the center console is broken, so now the cupholders are always exposed.
Other than that, it has been great. No issues with engine, transmission, etc.
Original owner here! Great to see a few of us still remain. 2005 6MT Anthracite with quartz interior ... purchased in November of 2004. It's been a great journey with her so far. 135,000 on the clock and going strong. No major problems (minus a clutch master cylinder around 60,000). Runs like the day I bought her and rowing through the gears NEVER gets old. Have found absolutely nothing on the market since that has enticed me enough to sell her. The stars aligned for Acura with this generation. Hoping it might come back around one of these days for Honda and Acura alike. Not holding my breath. With very few manual options remaining, she may be with me a long time to come. It's a timeless design in my opinion.
Original owner since July 2005. 98K miles. First car I've ever owned more than 10 years. No major issues, and it still brings a smile through my face to row through the gears when I take it out on the weekends!
No longer my DD, so should last a lot longer!
Original owners since 2006, 6 speed with 110k, most of it boosted and car looks and drives like new. I love how well build the TL is, even with all the power mods it's taken the increased stress without issue and 100k of it on the stock engine. Never seen the dealership to fix anything.

These are nice example why people shouldn't fear of the 04-06 AT failing.
Was lurking and I have had my 2nd gen for 14 years now! My first and only and have gone to test drive a few cars over the last couple of years and nothing feels as comfortable..Plus mine looks like its a 2009 vehicle as.opppsed to a 1999. 210k miles but on pace for 300k easy.
Plastic still on mats
I bought my 04 6mt in March of 2007 with 50k. I still have it , now with 154k and no issues at all. It is no longer my dd so it's not going no where. My wife also has a 05 6mt with 125k and no issues at all. We are both second owners of them. And same for hers, it's no longer her dd. Our dailys are a 05 RL and 11 TL AWD.

I guess its not for everyone. The tls are paided off and don't cost us much beside the insurance that is only on about 6 to 7 months out of the year. Both of them are up to date with all maintence as well. So besides the gas, we just enjoy them.

Car insurance in itself is a significant cost (I know its highly variable and depends on several factors)..
@bigcocoon , you are rite man. Car insurance can get expensive depending on everyones record. Good thing for my wife and i, we have a good driving record. Our monthly payment for insurance for all 4 cars with full coverage on each is $340. I think that's a pretty good rate considering there are ppl that pay that amount for one car with liability only.
