On the list for the Civic Type R
Will find out more in January. I know the GM of our Acura dealership and he has me on the list for two that are coming in. Black is all I know.
Still on the fence but would be nice to be back in a Honda. I'll keep you guys posted

The conversation involved some meowing and screaming. Gandolf said he liked the 3 holes in the back of it.

Saw it at the LA Auto Show and it was just too ricer boy for me to care. Much rather have a Golf R or Focus RS.

I like it. I bought the CC for a commute I no longer do. So I'm itching to get back into a stick. I've seen the R and I love it. But since I have an opportunity to get the type R I figured I'd just see where it goes.
I agree. It's a bit busy but I kinda like it.

Agreed. People used to hate on the STi for looking way too busy. This thing makes the STi look like vanilla

Eeek. Is that a production photo Sarlacc posted? Definitely a bit "transformer rice" to me...
Happy to see Honda back in the performance game, but maybe a refresh is due already

Yup, but remember that the Type R has always had a ridiculous look to it by default. It's what many people look for and is a signature of the model. My wife was trying to tell me to get a type R (because Honda fan) instead of the RS until she saw what it looked like...she promptly changed her mind.

I "know" the GM of the Acura dealership. They also own the Honda dealership as well. Sorry. Didn't make that clear. 2 will be coming to the Honda dealership they own this summer. They'll be calling me for a deposit and more info this month

Junior I'm being told it may be toned down a bit. But who knows. To me it looks sick. There is speculation that the third center exhaust is the turbo bov. Meh. Probably just flare. It's got the necessary 15 pieces of flare.

Glad to be back Drew. Andy and I were just taking about you the other night. Missed AZ. This isn't a sure thing but I couldn't think of a better place to share this experience.

It's not too bad. Excited to see what the final product will look like though.. Or will it be another Honda let down

exactly. I'm being promised MSRP as well. I've known this guy for 10 years. He sold me my TL in 05. I trust this dude. He said " I got it from here". So hurry up and wait

That's the current gen which is pretty out dated at this point. We, and the rest of the world, will be getting the next gen which is hopefully more competitive with what the Focus RS and Golf R bring to the table. The current gen CTR gets destroyed in every way compared to those two.

As far as being destroying, that's only in the QTR mile/0-60 tests. As far as track times goes, the Type R is clearly a strong competitor to the RS. Against it, the Type R laps around a 1 second of the RS, ahead & behind over 4 circuits; they're extremely equal cars. At the Nurburgring, it's reportedly 16 seconds faster.
Against the Golf R, the CTR has been faster on every circuit bar Hockenheim by a second. Nurburgring, the Golf R isn't even in the same league; 7:50 vs. 8:14.
I have a buddy in the UK who does reviews for a car mag over seas; they prefer it over the RS and claimed it lapped equal times.
General reception of the current Civic R? Pretty positive. As you say, the looks are an acquired taste, and our long-termer was improved by putting some Michelin Pilot Super Sports on it (or maybe Cup 2s? I can't remember) rather than the Continentals it comes with, but our mag rates it higher than the Focus RS. It lapped our local test track in an identical time to the RS despite being two driven wheels and 50-odd bhp down on the Ford, which gives you an idea of the performance.
And you can't see the outside when you're driving it...
The upcoming one also looks a bit odd to me, but it may potentially be even better - should be lighter, it's lower and wider than the current car, and they'll probably give it a bit more power.

Honda just called and it was a new guy. He says "so I have to call 25 people a day and you were on this list, so you are in the market for a new Civic?" I nearly hung up on him.
My buddy txt me "ignore that call"
