shit dude, just rip it out (the entire plastic frame) there are enough other supporting bolts/clips to hold it back in place after you're done the drain and fill.

OR try and slide it out of the way enough to where you can still drain the fluid.

I changed the trans fluid already, that wasn't a problem. I'm just worried that the wind will get it and rip it off while my wife is driving. Then I'll get the call with her crying and telling me to take it to the dealer next time.

I did my 3x3 in 1 day. I tried pumping through the dipstick and got 2.5 quarts. I also tried draining it and got 6 quarts instead of 3. Does anyone know why?

 

the pics are great and everything was going good till I got completely frustrated and wondering if I was in the wrong location after not being able to find the drain bolt for 30 min. going from the computer to the car and getting pissed. the bolt on the 04 is on the OPPOSITE side and faces in towards the car here are pics for anyone with an 04 as far as fill bolt I was able to get to it just by loosening the fuse box by removing only the two mounting bolts and using 2 extensions. car is on rhino ramps and draining now I am hoping I only get 3 qrts a drain I only bought 9.

 

I am changing from oem to after market and the oem fluid is REALLY nasty looking, (i am wondering if it was actually done last time, i was overseas...) i will be doing a drain with every oil change from now on but should i do all three drains today a couple of people have said its better to drive it 100 miles in between each...

 

so I just did this but 4 quarts of fluid came out... Yes I know I checked it like 5 times because I thought I was crazy. Same thing on our MDX. 4 quarts came out so I put 4 quarts back in. Level is just above the top dot on the dipstick but that's in my semi-level driveway. I've been driving the TLS for a week and have not noticed any issues and I drive a good 100 miles a day AVG.

I think I need to find a level spot and check that isht again.

Anyone else have this experience with AT on a TLS?

Can anyone recommend a good way to remove a small amount of fluid. Mine is just a little high and i don't think pulling the plug and trying to get it back in before to much came out would work out.

 

Just loosen the bolt (don't remove) and let it drip out what you want to remove and tighten up after.

 

Second Majofo. Loosen it almost completely until there's maybe a turn or half a turn left, let the bolt hang there, enough liquid should drip that it won't take you too long but you can tighten it when needed.
Don't forget to clean the bolt after tightening it up.

Always remove ATF fill bolt before removing drain bolt and draining out yout ATF.

 

This is true for an MT, transfer case or differential fluid change, but not big deal on an AT. I just fill it through the dipstick. Most AT cars don't even have a fill bolt plus I bet mine is probably seized considering its a 2006, don't care to find it either

 

I drained my 2008 TL S tranny fluid and I got 4 quarts. Filled it up with 4 quarts of AMSOIL and it's running well. I am going to do the second drain next weekend and third the weekend after that.

I just completed Round 1 of 3 on my 2006 5AT at 100100 miles. I'd share pics of my old fluid but I don't want anybody getting violently ill...

I used one set of Rhino Ramps on the front wheels only without jacking up the rear at all. I got out almost three complete quarts of the old fluid through the drain port. I also found the 8 inches of additional clearance provided by the Rhino Ramps was enough for me to get under the front of the car and deal with the plastic shield (do order yourself a bag of new retainer pin/fasteners from Amazon) and access the drain plug. Per some of the earlier posts I only loosened the rear10mm bolt on the plastic shield and then just swung the shield away from the drain pan and bolt.

I also went "old school" and drove the car around my town after adding new fluid. I'm noticing much smoother shifting even after just the first of the three drain and fill cycles. I'm using Red Line D4 ATF.

 

Finally got all the parts I need for mine. This weekend mine will get a full treatment at 196k miles!

New Trans Filter/Spring
New Pressure Switches
3 Qts of Redline D4 - (Drive it a couple days and repeat 2 more times.)

And this is bolt that you need to remove to fill transmission with new fluid

 

If it helps anyone when i did my ATF I used D4 as recommended by Acura and found that i didnt even need to remove the fuse box with use of a flex socket and the funnel i bought at O'reillys that had the 3 foot bendable hose. It definitely made the drain and fills a breeze. it took me about 4 hours to do all three drain and fills with these tools considering the lack of me not having to remove a lot of parts from the engine compartment.
