Transmission Shudder - no FM
any advice is really appreciated...
i have been running all amsoil super shift for several years without incident (great shifts all around) and i was wondering if those of you who were running with no FM have ever had slight shudder between 30-40 mph like described in many other threads? i have read that currently 65% no FM is considered optimal but i thought i would ask the gurus just to be sure in case i should be looking at more than just fluid. Already changed the 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches 3 times in the last 50k miles and i was going to drain 3 quarts and refill with amsoil ATF (added FM) to hopefully eliminate the slight shudder. Originally, in order to switch out my fluid i ran a case of amsoil super shift through the tranny by pulling the hose and running the engine to pump out the old fluid a quart at a time then replacing with new fluid as i go. i shifted through the gears and locked up the final gear while on a lift during the process to work out all the old fluid. i have done this twice now in 50k miles (once at 110k and once at 140k) and everything was fine but now i am experiencing the slight shudder which goes away with added throttle. currently at 150k miles.
Let me know what you think.

its usually in D so hard to tell but at around 30-40 mph is most likely 3rd but could be 4th. i can test it in manual mode tomorrow but it is only if i use light acceleration at that speed and it is very slight. The only filter is in the case and it was replaced. Mine is '04.

I would take the shift solenoids off and clean the mesh screens on them. They aren't the typical pressure switches that you've replaced but in the vicinity.
Perhaps that'll help bc the torque converter is designed to lock up for good MPG, so light throttle could be causing the shudder as it's not unlocking/locking properly.
I know a few members here ran straight type f fluid like you are running (no friction modifier) and they ran into issues after a couple hundred miles needing to add some FM back into the mix.

Try the following.
1. Replace the external trans filter.
2. Switch back to oem atf.
3. Inspect the solenoid screens.
4. Replace the Shift Solenoid C.
External trans filter #7.
Screens #4 (3) & 8.

Solenoid C #11.
