That's amazing! Your transmission ran for 600% longer than your engine! How'd you do it?

2007 60k . So, from reading this thread I'm not worried about my engine but is it normal for tranny to die at around 200k? Can you guys whose tranny died chime in and say how often you changed fluid in your ATs? I'm wondering if doing all these 3x3 fluid flushes would extend trannie's life.

thomask, I copied this post to a new thread and moved our conversation there to keep this thread on topic.

Original owner of '07 RL with 97K miles. It's in the shop now for the timing belt update, which is the first big job ever done to it.
It's been rock solid. I do baby it and performed every service early or more frequently than called for.

As pointed out by others, this has to be one of the most under-appreciated cars out there.

Waiting on the '17 MMC refresh of the SH-RLX before even considering moving on.

This happened today

It's a great DD. I don't think I'd ever replace it.

2005 RL - Still on tranny #1 by the way, following whatever is in the service manual for fluid intervals and maintenance since Day 1

06 RL, 124K miles, purchased from Philadelphia area at 105K 2 years ago. I recently retired, so hope to keep the car out of the salt in winter from now on. Still rust free underneath. Recently had a leak around the windshield. Still working on resolving that. Otherwise a great car. Very comfortable. Battery replaced last winter. No big deal. Keep all maintenance items up to date (or done early). Use synthetic (Mobil 1) oil.

What year is your RL and how many miles does it have now?

I'm sure someone has done this before, but I'm a newbie so thought I'd ask anyways. I have a 2007 with 81,4xx miles

2012 Tech

Currently at 71K miles, second owner purchased 4/'15 with 51K. Just had a $11K re-paint courtesy of Geico.
Looking for a 2016 RLX Hybrid CPO but, will keep the RL. Unbelievably great car exceeding the E350W4!

2006 RL just rolled over 208,000 miles. We bought the car with 44,000 miles. The timing belt service is coming up soon. We on a trip to Tennessee on a family emergency. The car has driven 1500 miles in 24 hours averaging 26 mpg. Not a drop of oil has been used. This is one awesome car.

Are you sure about RLX? I am hoping they started using real leather on the interior... It is really disappointing they are using leatherette for the interior for such expensive car.

Just bought an 05 with 59,311. Test drove it and fell in love with it. Garaged all it's life. Bought it from a retired 81 year old lawyer. It's mint except for drivers side minor 1/4 panel and front pass fender blemish. I am going to take of that asap before it rust out. I'm worried about the future repair of the propeller shaft though? Car still smells new inside. All service records done at the dealer. Including the 60,000k service, timing belt etc done in 2014. Rolling on michelins with a lot of thread left. I will pick it up this Saturday. I'll post some pics.

I also have an 05 RL and lately I have been getting very sluggish acceleration under hard throttle and also throttle seems kind laggy at times. Replaced spark plugs, have you ever had this problem?
