iPhone 6 TLX Integration
iPhone 6 TLX Integration
Anyone else successfully control their music on their iPhone 6 via the touchscreen? I can skip songs but the play/pause doesn't work from the touchscreen when I'm in 'iPod' mode. Any ideas?
The car should be set to Bluetooth mode, I believe. If you are connected via Bluetooth, play/pause should work, but not very well. There appears to be about a 5 second delay from the time I hit the button to the time the system reacts. Same thing for Siri --the steering wheel button usually works, but you have to hold it in for 5-10 seconds.
The bottom line is that the iphone integration is pretty minimal. It boils down to piping the phone's speakers and mic through the car, but little else.

Sometimes when I play music from my iPhone 6, the playback starts going crazy: it will pause on its own, then you need to push "play", and in a few seconds it pauses again. In this case, the next day the problem usually goes away, but it is still irritating.
Still, I'm thinking of dusting off the old 80GB iPod Classic to see how it works with the TLX. Might just leave it in the car as a more "permanent" solution.

I've got a two year old 160GB iPod Classic that I leave in my car 24/7 - works perfectly with the TLX and fits nicely in the lower compartment under the center stack.
I just got an iPhone6 Plus and haven't had any issues playing music on it. I also, haven't had a need to use the play/pause feature but will give it a try and report back. I'm currently running iOS 8.1.1.
I am, however, having some issues with text messaging. Has anyone been able to receive texts on the 6 or 6 Plus and have the system read an incoming text message to them? This particular feature worked fine with my Galaxy Note 3, but doesn't seem to work on the 6 Plus.

I have had an iPhone 6 for over a month, and upgraded to 8.1.1 yesterday. I am able to use the Siri connection (through the car's speakers) without a problem for reading and sending texts; I used that feature a lot last night and this morning without issue.

Keep in mind that as long as the iPhone 6 is plugged into power you can just say "hey Siri" and give it a command. That works a lot quicker than having to press the steering wheel button. You must enable this feature in settings!
It's an obvious iOS/Acura software compatibility issue. Like I said, there was a known issue regarding iOS 8.0.x back in the September timeframe that it appears they are slowly ironing out. I'm on 8.1 with my iP6 and experienced none of the initial issues people mentioned, other than I think the music playback controls are rather clunky. Maybe things are finally good now that iOS 8.1.1 has dropped. I'll be staying on 8.1 for the foreseeable future though, or at least until the public jailbreak for 8.1.1 is released

.While in Bluetooth mode, it used to play without interruption, but now it pauses too; I'm not sure why. Does anyone else have this issue while streaming Bluetooth audio? I would like to find a solution.
I agree, it seems to be a compatibility issue. My iPhone 4 using iOS 6.1.3 and iPad Mini using iOS 7.0.4 plays without interruption. Unfortunately, my three year old iPod Nano using iOS 1.0.1, latest version for said model, is not supported. Also, I tried downgrading to iOS 8.0 on my iPhone 5, but ran into the same pausing issues. Currently, I'm using my iPhone 4 as an iPod, but that non-ashtray is getting crowded. Is this the only band-aid/solution?
I suggest not plugging in the USB connection until after the Bluetooth handshake is complete. While I have no official confirmation of this from Acura tech support, it seems that when you plug the phone in before you start the car, the USB connection is made rather quickly, the Bluetooth handshake happens about 5 to 8 seconds later and forces a change in the cars input and the phones output. Since the same device (your iPhone) is doing two things, it gets confused. I've experimented with this on all of our current cars but not the TLX directly but it seems to be a common quirk.
Using a second iOS device that is not responsible for the Bluetooth connection, works perfectly. I suspect that your success with the iPhone 4 has more to do with the separation of functions (Bluetooth and USB) than the operating system being used.

Edit from earlier post: I confused the iPod Nano with the iPod Shuffle. I was unable to get the Shuffle to work with my TLX.
To summarize, my Tech reads texts from my IPhone 6 while driving (have not upgraded to the 8.1.2 as I understand it causes some issues). It will not send the standard texts, which I expected, and I use Siri to send dictated texts, again, while driving. My Music plays in IPOD when connected or Bluetooth and I can control from the audio screen, with the odd exception where I had to press play from the phone. That happens rarely and I am unsure as to what what was different. FYI, my IPhone music is all iTunes. I am quite satisfied with the functionality.

One thing I really love is pressing the call button and using the left side wheel to scroll though either call history or speed dials and then pressing the call button to make a call.
This pretty much summarizes my experience. The only exception is I'm on 8.1.2 and have no issues except sometimes it takes 2 tries to get Siri to activate. I would like it if I could do replies though.

But I am having a new issue: With the previous version of IOS on my iPhone 6- when I would get a new text message, I would be able to activate Siri Eyes Free from the steering wheel button, and say "read me my text messages", and the TLX would play them over the audio system.
But now, after I upgraded to IOS9.x (and didn't change any settings on my iPhone 6)- when I trigger Siri Eyes Free and ask to play messages- the system will tell me who I got texts from, but then (and this is new) it tells me "You must unlock your iPhone to hear the messages" which certainly defeats a lot of the "Eyes Free" concept if I have to take my phone out of my pocket to unlock it...
So, this doesn't seem to be a TLX issue, but rather a new IOS issue. All my settings seem to be "on" in my iPhone for this to work as before.
Anyone else see this and figure out a solution??
I discovered that when I updated to iOS 9 settings in my phone were changed and by Bluetooth wS set so that it would not sync my phonebook I changed the settings back and now it works as before. Check the settings in your iPhone as that may be the problem
Has anyone experienced issues where they are not able to hear the 2nd caller over the speakers after they select "swap"? When I get a 2nd call, if I try to swap I cannot hear the 2nd caller and then can't hear the first one if I try and swap back. Very frustrating. I have an iPhone 6 on latest software update. Had same issue even before this latest iOS update. Thanks!
Potential fix...
I brought my car in for service this morning for the B16 service along with TSB 15-034 for the transmission issue (9 speed). I also brought up the iPhone issue. The adviser explained a newer fix that is working for many. I have the iPhone 6. When I get my car back this afternoon, I'm going to try the following based on the adviser's recommendation...
1. If your phone's name has the word "iPhone" in the name, proceed to the next step
2. On your iPhone, go to Settings/General/About and change the name to remove the word "iPhone". For example, if your current name is "Joe's iPhone", change the name to just "Joe"
3. Go to Settings/General/Reset and select Reset Network Settings
4. Go to Bluetooth, click the blue "i" for Hands Free Link and remove the device
5. In your TLX, remove your phone from the system
6. Re-pair your iPhone to the TLX
Apparently, having the word "iPhone" in the name causes a bug in the communication between the TLX and the iPhone. I know it sounds weird but being in the IT field, I've heard of much worse anomalies.
Hopefully the above will fix my issue of not being able to receive or send text messages since iOS 9.x was introduced.
I will post an update once I've had a chance to apply the fix and test it.

Anyone trying the above should do "step 3" before "step 2", as when you reset the network settings on the phone, whatever name you had assigned to the phone is overwritten to the Apple factory default, which is "Iphone".

You are correct. Thanks for pointing that out. I got my car back from service and performed the steps above. It did work so that at least my text messages are working again. The only thing still not working (which never has) is the ability to reply to text messages with the provided options. Maybe one day.
