'07-'08 TL Type S Front Bumper and '07-'08 TL Base ASPEC Front Underspoiler

I’ve tried searching but haven’t found anything on what modifications are required to mount a 07-08 base lip on a 07-08 TL-S front bumper.

Does anyone have a DIY / (detailed) photo of a modified lip?

Any help / tips anyone can provide will be appreciated.

Thanks

not a DIY but....

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-photograph-gallery-96/my-type-s-lip-spoiler-641075/

Per Jaime- there was no special modification required.

Jaime's front lip was "custom molded" to be able to fit

You can really see the different shape of the foglights and how the Type-S angles the opposite way the base does.

Base A-Spec unmodified:

Jaime's custom molded base A-Spec"

The area which I circled in red is the only difference between the Type-S and base IIRC.
Get that part molded to shape like Jaime did and you're good!

The only lip that has "gray" is the 04-06 A-Spec lip.

Thats the A-Spec front lip I want to install on a 2008 Type-S.

I LOVE that version. The BEST IMO.

Thanks for the pictures !!!!

AN AWESOME MOD IMO.

I LOVE everything about the 07-08 Type-S, EXCEPT that NASTY bulging front A-Spec lip What were they thinking ???

you would still have to modify it. I have the 07-08 base bumber with the 04-06 a-spec front lip modified to fit the bumper.

That's not the base a-spec lip. That's the type-s lip. I know you know that, but the way you worded your statement made it a bit misleading. I don't know about the type-s lip having a different structure around the fogs, but the base does have the extra gray lip in the front where the type-s lip does not.

Correctamundo.
In the picture both are base A-Spec lips. The second pic is a 07-08 base A-Spec lip molded to fit a Type-S bumper. The first picture is an unmodified 07-08 base A-Spec lip on a 07-08 base bumper.

The A-Spec lip with the gray molding on the bottom is for the 04-06 base TL's.

There's only 3 types of lips.. 04-06 A-Spec.. 07-08 Base A-Spec.. and 07-08 Type-S A-Spec.

So to answer your question Luckieluc, I think you're going to have to do some molding to make the lip conform with the lines of the Type-S bumper

i was stationed at dover AFB(DE) for some time and was referred to a shop called FinishLine in felton. i was a lil skeptical being that this small state didn't have much of a TL scene or had good taste n vehicles for that matter lol
so basically gave them pics of type s/non S pics and gave em instructions and boom
$350 bux later i had a clean and custom fit which included paint.
ill get pix up later today

just for clarification, so you bought the front lip, took it to the shop with pics of what you wanted, and approx 350-400 later they painted and custom fit it?

that's not bad at all. can you put up some pics of it?? did they paint just the front lip or your entire bumper and front lip? thanks in advance

Thats would be great to have it customized and painted for $350. What does the lip cost ? About $200 ? So basically about $550 for a lip total. Thats great. I couldn't stand my 07 Type-S front A-Spec lip--YUK

I am considering buying the lip, cutting it myself, and buying a poly kit to mold the corner myself, then have it painted.

I wish that shop was by me. I would rather pay $350 to have it all done.

The ONLY front lip I will put on my 08 WDP Type-S is the base one.

I just picked up the sideskirts and rear lip from the A-Spec kit for my TL-S. Luckily for me they didn't have the front lip available anymore in ASM. I'll have to see what it looks like once I have everything installed with the stock S front bumper and then see if I wanna go the custom way like some of you guys did.

can you put a picture up of when it's all mounted on the car (full shot and also specifically the part where it was modified so we can see how it sits)?

Just to make sure I get it right here. You can fit the base A-Spec lip just fine on the Type S bumper but the only difference will be the fog light opening ? I mean I'm sure you can only notice it from upclose that the lines are not going the same way.

That pic of the NBP Type-S with the BASE 07-08 lip installed on it "Unmodified" is a bit dark.. any chance you have another pic in better light? i am trying to compare it to the work that was done to make it fit on the OP'S type-s , if i can get away with making that lip fit on with little to no modification and it still look as nice as that NBP type-S then i am In there like swimwear lol

for the members that installed it unmodified...did you install it yourself or get a shop to put it on? if yourself, how hard was it to get it lined up? thanks in advance, this is really interesting!

Did it myself. Not gonna lie, it was a tight fit and took some strength and wiggling. But didn't take it to a shop or need an extra set of hands.
