Just cleaned mine on the weekend … this stuff works awesome! I tried other cleaners and polish and it would not remove the black build-up. 10 min with BKF and there were like new!

PCD residue:

After Bar Keeper's Friend.

Inaccurate recommended an alcohol wipe for the bumper. It's still brown.

You can use very fine steel wool to remove the paint inside.

I used a rag and let me tell you this - my fingers were sore for a few fays and I got blisters...

just did this today. i got my bar keepers friend at a local family dollar store for $1.75

pleasing results

passenger side

drivers side

took less than 10 minutes for both sides. i didn't have stainless steel 'wool' nor did family dollar, so i bought stainless steel scourers instead. 2pack for $1.35 at family dollar

I like the black inner area with a shiny outline and outer surface. It looks good either way I just prefer the inside black.

quick question - the black that is not supposed to be removed. Is this the black on the inside of the circle exhaust section or the oval section? I have black all over the inside and don't want to remove whatever black paint I'm suppose to leave.

The whole oval section is supposed to be black.

Been keepin mine clean for a while now. I remember the first time I cleaned em it was a kind of a pain, but now its pretty easy I just touch em up whenever I wash my car. Its worth it, they look so much better clean.

ye old pic of what little bling I have on my car

Excellent write up BTW. This is good to spread the awareness of dirty tips. You are doing your part to make this world a better place.

so none of the cleaner should go inside of anything, this is just for outside correct?

It took me hours to clean the inside of the exhaust tips with a rag and BKF.

I would go with very fine steel wool to make the job quicker!

Get some steel wool or something like a rough brush (toothbrush size) and it'll work. I think it looks better without the black, but that's just me! Especially on SSM

I find making a paste with the powder (rather than the liquid BKF) works better

I went to the store and saw some BKF that was in a bottle and some in a can. Does one work better than the other or does it not really matter too much?

So I polished the insides of my exhaust tips to where the black paint comes off and now I'm thinking I liked them better with the insides black. When I go to repaint them, should I worry about masking off the actual exhaust tips or just paint it all and use the rest of the BKF to take off the overspray on the outsides of the exhaust tips?

I was shopping at Publix the other day and found the can for only $1.59. So I decided to try it, an OMG it looks like I bought a brand new exhaust. FYI it actually took me about an 1 hour to do all four tips!

^Looking at the car from a distance after doing that makes it appear that there is no exhaust at all.

That's that shit I don't like.
