Just a reminder for fellow members...

Hey guys,

Just a reminder to clean your ---------------exhaust tips!

I've seen so many member's rides on here that wash and keep everything about their car so clean and shiny except for their exhaust tips.

If you have that black buildup on the tip's lip right in the middle bottom lip, it can be removed easily!

All you need is Bar Keeper's Friend! I think I bought it for like 3 bucks (it's harder to find in Canada!).

All you do is take a hose to the tips to rinse them, then take a wet rag and apply some Bar Keeper's Friend on it.

Then you want to rub it in on the tips USING GLOVES!
If you don't wear gloves, you might get blisters.

It doesn't take long to work, which is the best part!

Then you rinse your tips with water!
All done!

Cleaning my exhaust tips took me 10 minutes; 2 or 3 minutes on each and rest to take pictures for you guys! =D

The last time I cleaned my exhaust tips was last year in August. I actually removed the black paint inside the tips which I thought I was supposed to take off.

It DOES look incredibly good and so clean.

I learned that the black paint wasn't supposed to be taken off, so I'm painting them low gloss black.

Basically, I cleaned them today to get ready for painting.

Here's the before:

Notice how they look cleaner already than a lot of member's tips because I removed the black paint in August.

Right tip done:

Left tip not touched:

Look at the comparison!

Both tips done! =D

They shine and stand out from so far away!:

Now that's what I call a nice clean ass.

Cheers!

Heheh, still debating if I should paint them or leave them.

I hate second thoughts lol.

Same procedure =)

Just use Bar Keeper's Friend on a rag and rub it in.

I suppose it helps if you have smaller hands to get under the bumper.

I'd get a stick or something skinny and put the rag over it and use it to rub in under the bumper.

Thanks everyone, and you're all welcome =)

My tail lights are 100% stock =)

Maybe it's the lighting heheh since it's dark in my garage, and the reds reflect the darkness which makes it appear darker.

Here's my car outside:

I like the black with the polished lip look. You said it was suppose to be black, why is that?

Because, thats how it came from the factory.

the insides were painted black.

I bought mine from Home Hardware Building Centre =D

Note that Home hardware won't carry it because they only carry building supplies such as nails and wood.

Home Furniture obviously won't have it too since they only sell furniture.

Thanks for your opinion!

It's supposed to be black inside (from factory) supposedly to cover up the soot build-up.

I hear some car manufacturers leave their exhaust tips polished, and some paint the inside black.

People with polished tips are painting the inside black while people with black inside the tips are removing them (like me).

I don't know which one to keep LOL

Soot buildup will black it out naturally. It's painted that way for aesthetic reasons. With the inside painted black, you get the illusion that the exhaust opening is large and trapezoidal (more aggressive), rather than the small round opening inside a large tip like it actually is.

Guitarplayer16, Nice write up...

I don't know if i like it with the black or not.. For some reason, the black makes the exhaust tip look larger were as the clean exhaust tip shows off the smaller pipe.. I am undecided on this one.. Nice House BTW..
