Heavy_RL gets new LEDs
Heavy_RL gets new LEDs
I recently ordered License plate and door panel LEDs from http://www.hobbyemporia.ecrater.com/
The order was placed on the 6th, shipped on the 7th, and received on the 9th. Great turn around.

These are the 6 LED pads for the plate lites

These are the 24 LED pads for the doors

Installation for the doors was pretty straight forward, here is before:

Hooked the pad to the correct base

Popped off the lens cover with a small flat head screw driver and installed the light base

Pulled the provided 3m backing tape off

and pressed the light into the hole, the tape adheres to the base keeping the light straight.

Now for the plate lights... I have seen a lot of people breaking clips and parts trying to get these done.
It took me two minutes with no special tools.
I reached in and popped these clips loose with my hands... there are 4 across the edge

The pulled the carpet back and reached in to grab the light

It was a simple twist and the light came right out. Here it is unplugged from the pig tail.

Again I found the correct wedge base and hooked the new LED up

I taped the wires together and used the provided 3M tape to stick the board flat onto the plug

Stuck the bulb back in maneuvering the board into the hole and viola..

This took me 10 mins top from start to finish and looks fantastic!

The door lights are WAY brighter than stock, I cannot wait to see them at night.
The 6 LED pad for the plate lites was the right choice for me as its the same brightness as stock just an arctic white.
Thanks KB1Spec for referring me to www.hobbyemporia.ecrater.com/

Yes the package you receive with these are universal for all wedge and festoon (tube) bulbs
You just have to decided what brightness, i.e. number of LEDs, you want.

you may be unhappy with these as not bright enough. You need most of the light downwards and not spread around. Of course you won't fit that 24 LED pad in the space for the license plate lights. The 6 LED pad he used looks good.
The other I found is this 2Watt version

Not necessarily advocating the vendor, just that they have a good site so you can find different products easily....
If these are the ones that have 1 LED on the end, and then 4 on each of side
