What are the chances of 5-0 pulling me over for blue foglights? (pic inside)

Hey guys, I bought LAMIN-X foglight film covers but they sent me the wrong ones. I wanted the thick, clear ones but they sent me the blue ones. I like how they look but worry about cops. Do you guys think I'll get pulled over for this? How much would the ticket cost?

Depends where you live. A lot of my friends and acquaintances have these in blue or yellow but they never got pulled over for it.

I just went out to see if the fog lights turned blue at night and they don't. So the only problem right now is that it's just blue.

the cover doesn't matter, but if it makes the foglights very blue, take them off. Blue lights are illegal for a very good reason

I live in SF too. You should be fine. I think the only car modifications i've seen people get a fix-it ticket for in SF is front window tints (35% and darker), smoked taillights, or missing front license plate.

If you feel that its necessary to get clear, complain that they sent you the wrong ones and request that you be sent what you ordered.

During my time as an Intern as a police department, I asked them if lighting modifications were considered illegal. Their answer? No. None of them would pull over for such a thing. But we all know it's illegal but most officers I've met don't pay attention.

If your fog lamps turned blue while on, I'd remove them because that would be considered a problem. However, that's mainly if the lights are flashing where it could be mistaken for an emergency vehicle. I have yet to see anyone with HID's that are as BLUE as the sky pulled over so you should be fine if it's only blue on the lens.

you know what I seen the other day?

blue lights underneath the two side view mirrors. kinda like courtesy lights, but this fool was driving with them on. Palm meet forehead.
if they flashed, I bet it would look a 747.

If you wanted the clear, you should have not have put them on your car and send them back. But honestly, i'd just keep it, it looks nice!

Will you get stopped? Who knows.

But depending on how the ticket is written it could be impersonating a LEO and is a criminal offense.

Just recently a few states have had an issue with someone stopping people and impersonating a LEO. Based on that, I know that DC stepped up enforcement of anything that could be considered police equipment on vehicles and many people with blue tinted headlights were cited (and several impounded.) I suspect that enforcement has slowed down now that they caught the guy - when he pulled over a real cop.

Ask yourself "is the blue tint worth the risk of getting attention drawn to my car by law enforcement and getting a criminal citation?"

No other poster can make that decision for you. Unless the other poster drives your exact route, at the same time of day and interacts with the same LEOs that may or may not have had their donut fix there is no way that they can give you assurances one way or the other.

You have to make that decision on your own. The law says no blue lights. Your call.

I remember hearing about that on the local news. That guy messed with the wrong driver.

if they sent you the wrong color covers, email or call them. they are usually really good with customer service.

as for if you will get pulled over...i highly doubt it. that barely looks blue and the light being emitted is still white/amber.

i got my lamin-x thru amazon. long story short they sent me the wrong ones too (size not color) i had already started to get them installed when i realized that it wasn't going to work. a couple of emails later and they sent me the correct ones shipped for free without asking for the old ones back. idk if it was because i was going through amazon or not, but the people that i dealt with in their customer service department (l-x not amazon) were really efficient and courteous. i wouldn't hesitate to reach out to them if i were you.
