I'm new to the site but I have dug to the bottom of the inter web and YouTube and I still have no answers. My 2001 Tl has 140k on it I accidentally hung the O2 sensor and ripped the wires out of it a few weeks back. I have replaced it but before I did the D5 light came on and started blinking. Will not shift properly unless I manually shift it. Did a full transmission fluid change out including filter, also checked screens in shift solinoids. After fluid change drove it about 3 miles D5 still blinking then tapped brakes and all guages went to 0, including fuel and temp. Now I have a Christmas tree on my dash. Had a mechanic bring over his computer and it wouldn't let it load but to 98 precent. I have also replaced the alternator. I need some major help. Thanks in advance.

D5 flashing typically means there is a problem with the transmission.

The best place to start is to connect an OBD-2 and see what codes you have going. Let us know what you find.

In the meantime I would drive the car as little as possible. If you do need to drive it then make short trips and if you're driving under 40MPH then drive in D4. Good luck.

I'm not driving it at all. The OBD2 won't load on a high end computer. So that makes me think its a bad electrical problem.

Well just a little update. I have been through all the fuses and relays. Cahnged alternator and battery still no luck. After 3 or so days the battery goes dead also no cruse control and ac won't kick compressor on. Still no luck with OBD2 reader. This leads me to think my ECM is bad so I have ordered one from eBay should know something in the next week.

Be sure to check your grounds. They are known to go bad in this model.
