Hey there, I'm in the same boat.

Here are some prices I got in northern NJ:

My local dealer for timing belt, WP and tensioner is $1026 OTD. If I add the idler and tensioner inner pulleys it's $1248 OTD.

I have one local mechanic who I trust quoted me $1075 using Honda parts for all 5 pieces plus accessory belt, etc. He also said he would do the job using a GATES kit for $830.

Another mechanic who was recommended but I have never used him said they would use the Aisin kit and would charge about $700 for parts and labor.

Another option was to buy the Honda parts for around $530. A friend of mine offered to help do the job with me. I've done plenty of work on the car but not sure I trust myself doing this one. Maybe I'm short changing myself.

Yeah man, sucks! Especially when there used to be specials around $600 for everything except for the tensioner a while back. I was thinking about buying the parts too but the Honda dealerships still want $700 for labor and I don't know any mechanics in my area I trust.........

Don’t get it done at an Acura dealership, instead get quotes from Honda dealerships. My Honda dealer charged me around $800, this was several years ago, but they were way cheaper than the Acura dealer.

Yes sir, I have been focusing my search with Honda dealerships. Tried a few nearby Acura places but the prices were outrageous. Even Hagerstown Honda with the best price so far is gonna be close to a grand. Also, a buddy of mine that works for Honda says that the replacement kits that say OEM Honda and sell for around $300 on Ebay are fakes. Not sure how accurate that is but I'm not willing to chance it. So most likely its Hagerstown.

The sub 1k quota seems to be reasonable. The old special from a NJ Honda dealer was not as cheap as it sound when all said and done. It starts around $550 but there was extra charge for RL (+$150) and extra charge for replacing tensioners. I forgot why RL was more expensive, probably it was at Honda dealer, or the engine bay is much tighter on the RL. Also there was no free loaner, so it will be a lot waiting around as the job took 4-6 hrs.

Yeah, that seems to be best price. I remember getting my TL done at Hamilton Honda (its documented on here somewhere) for under $400 and was hoping for something like $600 for the RL but all those deals have expired. Oh well. Not having a free loaner is no big deal since I can work remotely and get paid while it is being done. Shame there is not a dealership that gave an Acurazine discount to all members!
