That was also my experience. I didn't have to touch the dimple, just get near it. THAT was a cool feature and it took me about a month to stop doing it with my new car.

Although I do like the passivs locks in the CTS. As soon as it senses that the fob is no longer in the car, the doors lock automatically. Even easier than touching the door handle.

That would piss me off as I don't lock the car in my garage. Can it be disabled?

Here is something I found today (hope it isn't here already).

Yeah, I know. Clean my cup holder.

Yep, but then you have to use the fob to lock the doors. The CTS coupe doesn't have touch sensitive handles.... mainly because it doesn't have door handles. It has a recessed pad that you touch to pop the door open (just like the Corvette).
I've actually gotten used to it. I get to work, and just walk away and the doors lock. It's a minor hassle at home.

I knew about the false bottom....

But I did NOT know the RL has it's own gym. I do doubt, however, that lid is sturdy enough to support my pull ups.

And below, is that the push up spot?

Oh, and your gym is dirty.

I knew about the false bottom. That's where I keep my coins.

It's the pull-up bar that I just found today.

Oh, and my gym may be dirty, but my exhaust tips are clean.

hi, out of curiosity, do you mind to post a photo of that sensor part...? i been looking up about 40 RLs in autotrader and none seem to take a photo of that keyless entry system!

thanks... kl

This isn't my picture, but it shows all the features of the handle.

To the left of the key hole, there is a little circle protruding from the handle. This is the "dimple" and locks the door by touching it with a fob outside of the car.

The inside of the handle has another sensor that will unlock the car if it detects the fob.

If you unlock the doors with the fob button, there is a light on the inside of the handles.

Are the handles supposed to light up? Mine don't. I think we all know about the touch sensitive handles, and a fob is not required, just your finger.

You have to use the fob to illuminate the inside of the handle. If you are already touching the handle, they figure you don't need help finding it in the dark.

hi, if you set the tachometer (speedo?) lights to the max, then press -Minus "once", then your GPS will auto switch to night mode when driving in dark or past the bridge. (must have auto headlights on).

btw, can somebody help me to obtain the correct link to the RL full service manual? i found this one http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?gwmewxz1yec but not the correct one.

Chech the other thread, and I don't believe the light have to be on "auto". They just can't be "off".

How about on the climate control screen, if the temp on the vents is hot, the driver/pass icon lights red, and if cold, it lights blue but only if you have it set to come out from floor and front vents

Does not show this on my 2005
You can adjust temp for Driver and Passenger Vent Temp and it will show arrow as either red or blue, but it is only in this adjust screen and only Driver or Passenger one arrow at a time during the adjustment

After all these years, I just noticed two large concave sections designed to create more headroom in the rear section of the headliner of my 2005.

One thing I noticed is when the Nav system is giving guidance, it will call the hiways by its actual geographical direction rather than it's official nominal direction. Ex. Hiway 40 in Montreal is a East - West hiway but when Im about to merge onto this hiway over a stretch where its going North n South, the Nav system would say : "Keep left then turn left onto hiway 40 South when Im actually merging onto 40 West. Does this happens south of the border too or Navtek was too lazy to properly label Canadian routes ?

For you Snow and Ice folks, in the Winter you can "lock" the wipers in an "up mode" so they don't get frozen under snow and ice tucked in their normal place down under the hood at the base of the windshield.

In the summer you can reposition them back to "normal" mode where they park themselves at the base of the windshield.

Thumbs up My Favourites

Great thread......

Here are some of my hidden RL gems that have not been mentioned yet.

1. When driving recklessly, the RL console will flash the word 'brake' if too close to another car in front
2. When driving really recklessly.... I am fairly certain the RL applied the breaks on me when I came close to a car in front of me who was turning right and I came close to hitting his rear bumper
3. Seeing the remaining oil life on my dash
4. Plugging my iPad into the USB port and being able to control it on the dash (probably available in other cars but I think it's cool)
5. The automatic cruise control that maintains distance to cars in front... Very neat
6. When using cruise control, the exact speed is displayed in digital format on the dash (useful here in Canada when I set the speed at 14 over the limit to avoid speeding tickets)

One question I have however: my front bumper has a right rectangle indentation on the right side. Any idea what it is for?

Thanks for the great posts....

I just got my RL with CMBS last week and love the ACC.

Do you know if the car will give an audible warning if I'm going under 25mph and about to rear end someone?

According to myacura.com CMBS will not work below 10mph.

Here is the website where i found it;
