Havent pulled codes in either of my acuras but I have a general obd2 reader and presume it works the same way on acuras, hook up to obd2 port and go. If so and you trust the big box autoparts places they should be able to read the codes. They are however prohibited from clearing them at least in VA and now I think they arent even allowed to hook it up, you have to do everything but its free and will get you in the ball park with the issue closer than we will without the codes
Here is a link to some common codes. Good luck
RL 3.5/3.7L ? MDX 3.7L (2005 ? 2009) ? OBD Trouble Codes

The box stores can read the CELs because they are standard Honda codes. The proprietary systems like SH-AWD won't be picked up.
You should be able to pull the codes from the message inbox in the nav menu. Is there an envelope in the top right corner of the nav screen?

I got this light yesterday. I was not happy. Then remembered this thread and looked this one up https://acurazine.com/forums/second-...-light-698543/ .
I opened the gas cap and then retwisted it and did 4-5 clicks. I have a bad habit of just stopping as soon as it clicks. Seems on Acuras there's a TSB on this. bSo, you gotta click 4-5 times. Air tight = no O2 = after a few ignitions during the day, it was gone.
Hope this is helpful for others.

In my case the positive terminal of the battery was slightly loose. The check emission system message went away as soon as I tightened it up. Strange message for a loose battery, IMO.
