Make VTEC kick in earlier?

If I remember correctly from old posts/threads,
Changing the Vtec range with the Apex-i controller does not provide much of a gain, a mere 1-3 horses. I believed the reasoning was that Acura tuned our cars optimally from the factory already.

I believe 4700 or 4800 is the lowest you can do it without having the CEL light turn-on. It shouldn't damage the engine because all you are doing is just forcing the more aggressive cam-lobe but who knows

I dont think the horsepower gain is the benefit. Rather, you increase the power-curve by having the aggressive cam-lobe engage earlier.

u wouldn't really want it to kick in earlyer. it's not like a turbowhere u can up the boost. basicly, when the vtec kicks in, the valves stay open longer. at low rpm, if the valve stays open to long, u can bend a valve and ruin ur engine. Vtec gives u the best of both worlds, low end torque and high end power. Ever hear a hot rod? it sounds like shit because they are set for high end power.

lol I just got my new tl the first time I took it out to see what the power felt like my cell was going nuts scenes then if I fell like smoking a ricer it does not come on but then again if it flash thears to much load that's all nothing to worry about its just the ecu telling you to calm down a bit cus it can't keep up with motor idk my tl is kinda crazy for be stock

Means you'll lose some torque down low which is what you need at that time. The people that engineered these engines know what they're doing. There isn't a huge advantage to bringing it on earlier and the amount of work and money required simply isn't worth it. I'd spend my money elsewhere.
