VTEC Early Rev Limiter
So I've had a 2007 Accord V6 transmission put in my car for almost 2 years now, and it's been running great until recently. I made a custom CAI using an existing SRI that I had put on. This is when the issue started. I don't see how the intake could be causing the issue, but it's as follow:
When I go WOT in the lower gears, the car begins revving up. Now, I'm normally busy focusing on the road, and not the RPMs, but when VTEC finally kicks in, it's fine for half a second, then it feels like the engines kicks into neutral, then it goes back into gear and keeps revving. It's the same feeling as if you red line it and don't shift gears. It does this in both SS and Auto modes. I'd have to rewatch the SS mode to see if it's attempting to switch to second gear when this happens, or if it's staying in first gear. I do know that when I throw it down into second and go WOT, it does the same thing, but the monitor says it's in 2nd gear the whole time, that it never jumps down to 1st gear.
I've checked the solenoid screens, and they were perfectly clean, and the transmission smelled normal, and even looked healthy. Did not look or smelled burnt at all. Still seemed fresh.
The car drives perfectly normal when not going WOT. No slipping at all, and only does this from 1-2. VTEC doesn't act up in any other gears. Does anyone have any suggestions before I attempt going back to the SRI? I've been planning changing out the transmission fluid recently as it's about that time.

well, if the tranny is slipping then it's slipping..
perhaps chanign the fluid will alleviate the slippage... have you ever changed the fluid in the 2 years youve had the AV6 tranny installed? regular maintenance is the key to longevity.....I would change the fluid every 30k-40k miles to always have fresh fluid in the tranny.
fluid wears out, all the properties in fresh fluid wear out over time with heat....so, yes...change the fluid and do it more often than once every 2 years

The problem arises at 5500-6000 RPMs every time, but then continues accelerating after it stutters. Like I mentioned before, it feels like if you're holding your foot to the floor, it finally reaches redline, but you just don't shift. It's that stuttering feeling, but it's happening 1k early.

Just curious. When the AV6 swap is performed, do all of the inherent switches; solenoids and sensors from the AV6 stay with the trans or are the ones from the dead OEM Acura transmission transferred over? Maybe the difference you feel is in those components between the Accord and the Acura?

I found another thread after realizing that it might not be the trans. They were having the same issue at 5500-6000 RPMs. They were saying it might be the TPS sensor, but others were saying to check oil levels, to have the valves adjusted, changing the trans fluid, etc.
There was no definitive answer, so I'm still wondering what it could be. Link to the thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-p...imiter-857169/

So, I have fixed the issue and have returned with a definitive answer as to what fixed my issue. Turns out, the motor oil was way too low. So I drained what was left, and put some fresh new oil in there.
It wasn't that long ago when I changed my oil last, maybe 2 months ago, but I noticed when I took the drain bolt off, there was no crush washer with it. It was stuck onto the oil pan, and the inside had bent into the oil pan. I suspect that was what caused my oil to leak. User error.
TL;DR - Motor oil was low

If there's a way to change the title of the thread, it'd be nice to change it to something like "VTEC Early rev limiter" or something to make it so that some one happens upon this thread if they have a similar issue.

It took me typing out my issue to realize what it really was. In fact, your post in the thread up there was one of the first things I checked.
