While taking out my rear seat to adjust my Koni's (I guess I should have left well enough alone, but hell didn't have anything better to do) I was shocked by the amount of road noise the rear seats insulate the cabin from.

I've been driving around with the rear seat out wanting to fine tune the Koni settings, but the noise is pretty unbearable so hopefully i'll have something set soon.

My question though is, I am wanting to put some sound deadening material (brown bag, dynamat, etc.) in there to seriously reduce the amount of road noise I am getting. Now here is the kicker though; I just want to put that material down behind the rear seat for the time being. Is this beneficial, or am I just wasting my money doing this??

Anyone have any particular focus points that I should focus on (ie, where is the noise coming from the most, etc.).

Oh BTW I can hear the passenger side shock compress, and uncompress, i'm thinking that's probably not a noise that I should be hearing (fear that I might have blown the adjustment valve or whatever, because it was a bitch to access and turn on that side). Hopefully I should be hearing that noise (it's not really that loud), but then again you never know. Does anyone have any other recommended methods to adjust the Koni's other than that plastic (crappy IMHO) adjuster that it comes with?

I have had mixed results with dynamat. It helped reduce noise in my Cressida but didn't do much for my Celica. In the case of the Celica I went overboard - put it everywhere. I'm not sure about the CL-S but here's a suggestion. Get a sound meter from Radio Shack, have someone ride around in the back and point the thing at various parts of the back seat area. You might identify the hot spots that way. Good luck and let me know. I've considered dynamating the CL-S but it is one of the quieter cars on the road already.

What I have always had good luck with for sound deadening is 5/8" foam carpet padding. Use silicon sealant or weatherstrip adhesive and put it every place! It's cheap too.

I've noticed that the mirrors produce a lot of wind noise. Are there carbon mirrors for us yet? And if so, think they would help? Would we lose power/heat functionality?
