Engine crackle noise Belt tensioner? Have supercharger
Hi everyone. I posted this on TL section but I always end up back here . Looks like the CL ers have more experience with supercharger and fixes. I have this metal marble noise and i am almost positive its coming from the belt tensioner. It started 2 weeks after my supercharger install. If I push down on it with smethig while its bouncing up and down it makes the noise less noticable. It is noticable during idle.
When the engine is off, does your marker on the belt tensioner sit in that space between the 2 lines shown in my pic or is it further back like mine?

Please help

Are you saying your belt tensioner makes that marble sound. I am familiar with the marble sound that the eaton blower makes but what I am experiencing is from the tensioner on the opposite end. Is that where your noise is?

Blown is Best
I've got a little noise coming off of my belt or tensioner when its cold. Mine goes away after a few minutes. Called and ordered a spare SC tensioner just in case though.

I have the same problem with my belt tensioner. Im not S/C but ever since i got the light weight pulley its been doin that. But then it warms up and its less noticable. I hope nothing is really wrong...
Is that what your talkin about?

Yes the factory belt tensioner makes crackling marble sounds as it bounces up and down with rotations. When I give it a little gas it kind of moves once and stays steady or at least smoves so fast I dont notice the movement. Bottom line is it makes the noise at idle and iit sounds bad. I am not sure if chaging it will solve it but before I do I wanted to know where your marker lies on the picture I posted so I can know if its bad.
I am not speaking of the manually adjusted SC belt tensioner but rather the OEM automatic belt tensioner on the block.
