Just bought a TLX AWD Advance and....

it stopped on me. Unreal. 23 miles. Driving down the road and it stopped at the light and wouldn't go anymore. All the lights started flashing including check engine light, telling me there is an electronic brake problem and a transmission problem. Crazy. I called Acura Roadside Assistance and they're towing it back to the dealership now. I'll keep ya'll updated. Posting video soon.

Wow....not a good start to a new car. Hope it's a simple issue, and you'll be back on the road shortly!

Hopefully it's just a battery issue. Damn! You went from joy to anger in a 23 mile span. I am sorry to hear this.

HAHAHAHAHA, WOW.

OP, I'm not laughing at you, but just at the really crappy situation. It's definitely not a battery issue- if you were driving, the car would be running off the alternator at that point.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, Acura is the new "european" brand- all those electronics and gizmos and harnesses and electric motors and wiz bang wizardry will fail- and it looks like Acura can't "japanese" these things from failing.

Right on time! Never let a bad situation go to waste.

Do you think this ever happened to a BMW, or Lexus, or.. [fill in the blank]?

because, you know, pulling a mechanical lever was so hard. For those of you who say the lever was ugly, I think MORE buttons is ugly. Acura needs to stop making these stupid electronic gizmos.

yup, like i said about those european cars... *facepalm*

Does it happen to lexus? maybe. But they have a FAR GREATER track record for cars not having problems, unlike Acura these days. Give your head a shake.

Lexus could have an issue, and it's not the end of the world, because overall their cars are known to be bulletproof. Acura is a struggling brand, known for their "reliability" yet builds shit cars these days. Case in point? Look at post #1.

Wow! I want to express my condolences. I had alerts after two weeks and it turned out to be a faulty fuel filler assembly. The Emission System Failure and Electric Parking Brake Failure lights came on. The car worked fine. It really sucks to have the car die on you.

Best of luck!

The parking brake is bad enough, but I can understand. 90 something percent of drivers don't know the purpose of a parking brake and it only annoys them because they'll pull it unintentionally and fucking start a fire in the rear meanwhile wondering where the fuck that annoying warning beep is coming from.

But a fucking brake hold.. because it's so hard to press the fucking brake pedal. Oh this traffic is really wearing out my foot.. boo hoo.. Oh an inclined stop. Better press the brake hold button because my foot moves too slow to get on the gas pedal.. I might roll back down the hill. FFS Acura.. get your shit together.

It could be the battery - because of the start/stop technology on the SH-AWD models right? The OP said that he stopped at a light - and it wouldn't start again. So it could be something simple like that.

Commiserations - very disappointing. Hopefully a simple problem to fix.

But to all the moaning about unnecessary electronic automatic stuff - though I'll go along with a lot of it - you have to ask where you draw the line with automation.....my land rover is a manual. It has wind up windows. a regular parking brake. no a/c, no power locks or keyless entry, no heated seats, no airbags, no abs, no auto headlights, no remote start, no push button start, no heated rear window even.....it's a question of where do you draw the line with conveniences. How hard is it to push a clutch and move a gear lever. Not at all.

I like brake hold - works really nicely. Not something I ever even considered wanting - didnt even know what it was till a few weeks after I got it. Most cars have hill start assistance these days - nobody ever used hand brakes as they are meant (except me...., and most people taught how to drive by europeans).

I have delivered over a thousand Hondas, and only one had a major problem at delivery once (noisy pulley - which I spotted and we fixed in time), and one which konked out soon after it was driven away - faulty injection pack thingy.

My Land Rover wouldnt start at all this morning by the way....

Called Acura Roadside, tow truck driver came and told him I could try starting the car and moving it to a better position for him to be able to tow. He said ok. Started it up and it went fine. He started hooking it up and then he suggested why not I try and drive it to the dealership and he'll follow me. I drove it around the block while he waited and everything worked fine. He followed me to the dealership (4 miles). It's in their hands now. I'm glad I took the video cause people would have thought I was crazy if I didn't. I'll keep you guys posted

or better yet, the video he took documenting it!

I am going to say that one fancy electronic system fubar'd another fancy electronic system on the car. That's my final guess.

I agree with Majofo on the idea that cars are getting to the point where they are doing too much work for you. S2000 caters to that and I'll always love the simplicity that came with that car.
