NwTSXmt: Not really. MPG is the same. Performance on responsiveness and acceleration a little bit but I do not know if it's because the air filter is new. If I had a brand new OEM filter to compare it with maybe.
Kingmeow: That will be great also if we can post video clips on a DIY section. I always try to look for something easy to fix my car that I don't have to pay $80 just to have it replaced. I also posted pics on steps on how to replace the cabin filter on a 4G. https://acurazine.com/forums/4g-tl-2009-2014-123/2009-cabin-filter-770128/

TL-SHAWD 6MT Rocks!
Thank you for taking the time to indicate the clips and screw positions, and for taking clear pictures!
It makes all the difference in the world when repairing or modding our spaceships!
now we need one for the A/C filter.

I wanted to add the following:
I just changed out the filter on my recently acquired 2009, The last fool who tightened down the screws went to far. They were over tightened, so when I went to remove them 3 of the four broke off. They are designed to break at a low torque amount, so that you do not damage the plastic housing by over tightening.
So when you tighten these up, go easy, go till snug and stop!
If yours end up broken like mine, you can get replacement screws in a pinch easily at Lowes or Home Depot, they are M5 .80 about an inch and a half long I think.
Which is what I did. However these could easily be overtightened and will not break like the OEM ones, and thus could crack the housing.

I've always used K&N drop in filters and have always felt that I saw a small but noticeable bump in performance. i.e., slightly better torque and low RPM response. Slightly better acceleration. I love the additional noises the car makes. However, the post on this website has me questioning my previous experience. Was it all my imagination or does anyone have some concrete objective results to share?

What is the best tool to remove the screws? Mine were overtightened by the dealer tech that did the last replacement and I cant get them off with a phillips head or flat head screwdriver.

You're absolutely right about the ratchet and socket, probably dont need the extension since the screws are not pretty close to the top of the bay.
I decided to go for it and just used a wrench to manually remove the screws and two of the four broke . The two remaining ones came out OK. When all four were either removed or broken, I was able to replace the filter. Then I was able to remove what was left of the threads from the two broken ones with my fingers. I will be going to Lowe's this afternoon for replacements. In the meantime, I put the good ones back on opposing sides to secure the box as much as possible until I can get back from Lowes .
I might have mentioned earlier, that I am fairly new at this, just trying to learn how to be more self-sufficient when it comes to mechanical things.

Good to hear you were able to remove the screws. Anything mechanical with your car you can do yourself is great for your wallet, and know how for future car bonding......

Burning Brakes
Tip for hard to remove screws
When you have difficulty removing a screw you have to take it easy and be patient. This often works but not always. In some cases a broken screw is easily replaced but at times it's a real hassle. If you can get the screw to turn at all, just turn it a tiny bit. Use the minimum torque possible. Do not use a big wrench on a small screw. Turn the screw back and forth to try to get it started. Loosen and then re-tighten to its original setting. Then loosen again. Each time you loosen you might get it a bit further. Go back and forth frequently and use some penetrating oil if possible. Take your time and often you can get the screw out without breaking it. Use some anti-seize when you put it back together.
