Did you hit the Auto button?, hit the fan location to cycle past Auto setting.

There is a self-diagnostic function for the HVAC. To run the self-diagnostic function, do the following:

1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode and then the ON mode

2. Press and hold the FAN ON/OFF button, then within 10 seconds press and release the REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER/MIRROR DEFOGGER button five times Release the FAN ON/OFF button, then the self diagnostic begins.

If there is a problem with the system, it will flash AUTO, 88 and AUTO, 88 and WINDSHIELD DEFROST, or 88 and MODE. If there is more than one problems, they are displayed one at a time in sequence followed by a pause. If there are no problems detected, the segments do not illuminate, and the system appears to be turned off. The problems are displayed with some codes you may need to take it to the dealer to repair. There are lots of codes!!! If you have codes and you can post them I may be able to interpret them for you.

To cancel the self-diagnostic turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

Hope that helps.

There are two of them. One for passenger side and one for driver side.

The shop repair manual was posted here, a while back: https://acurazine.com/forums/4g-tl-2009-2014-123/acura-tl-service-manual-899572/

Its on page 21-100.

That was very helpful

When I ran the test, it displayed Auto then 88, Auto then defroster and it repeated that cycle again and again. Does that mean there is a problem(s) ?

Thank you. I get “auto”, “88”, “||” and the Defrost sign. Thoughts as to an easy fix? Thank you.
