steering/trans vibration @25-30mph
steering/trans vibration @25-30mph
Hi, Has anyone had to resolve an issue with vibrations felt through the steering wheel when driving consistently at 25-30 mph?
To reproduce, i put the Car in D, get up to speed at about 27mph, and sit at 27mph w/ light throttle, just enough to maintain the speed. The rpms then fall slightly, seem to settle at around 1100 or so to maintain 27mph. once the rpms settle, their is a pronounced vibration that can be felt up the steering column - it even makes the keys in the ignition shake, and you can feel the vibrations in the drivers seat and steering wheel.
It almost feels like on a manual trans, when in too low a gear and the engine is bogging.
2011 Rdx FWD, 37k miles, original owner.
Thanks.

Hi, my '08 does the same thing. I've taken it in repeatedly, and got the 'can't duplicate' response so many times. I finally took one of the techs on a test drive where it did it for him. Their fix was a transmission 'service' which included fresh transmission fluid (I think it was about $250), and it solved the problem for about a year. It's come back now, so I have to pop for the service again.
DRR98, did you have it on your RDX, and find that the drive shaft was the problem? My extended warranty ends in less than a year and I'm getting nervous about these problems, which they 'can't duplicate.' Once the warranty ends I'm sure that, all of a sudden, the problem will be duplicated, and a paid solution come available!
Do you know what was the problem? U-joint worn, drive shaft bent/ damaged, other? I don't understand why the drive-shaft itself would require replacement, unless it was damaged. U-joints do wear, but they can be replaced individually.
