window tint ticket. NEED HELP

hey everyone,

i need some help. while driving to work the other day i got stopped at a "vehicle safety check point" on 2nd ave and 60nth street in Manhattan. The cop asked me to roll down my rear windows and wrote me a ticket. STAY AWAY FROM THAT PART OF MANHATTAN IF YOU HAVE TINTS!!!!

so i want to fight this ticket and i plan on taking my tints off, but for the time being i am looking for someone to help me out. i want to take pictures of the car with no tints on it, but dont have the time to take them off. soooooo im looking for someone with a NBP with no tints that i can take pictures of. just to say "i took them off" and then plead not guilty. hopefully the judge will throw out the ticket.

anyone who is willing to help? 20 bucks goes to the person who helps me out and my undying gratitude

I don't know if you are gonna have much luck, I was having that problem with my tints getting pulled over I went to the eye doctor and got a prescription for my eyes bein sensitive to light you could always go that route if you are cool with a eye doctor

I thought for a tint ticket you have to get it inspected at a police precint. Also I see a tint ticket as one of the side cost of having it. It kinda comes with the territory.

Yup. You can get them remove and keep a receipt. Bring it to court and the judge will give you a brake. In NY is $90 per window so on a TL 4x90= 360. I know some one who got it reduced to $230 with the receipt. I know people talk about Doc notes, but last time i checked , for NY you need to apply for that and the medical conditions are very limited to skin conditions.

nope 70% of light has to pass thru all 4 windows. 70% looks like the stock window with no tint. the back windshield can be any darkness you like....for now atleast.

you got it right on the money skin and eye problems. the cop kinda gave me a break and only did one window. i dont have tints on the front windows. so its only 90. i might just pay it or try and get a receipt from a tint shop.

In the past 4 months i got pulled over twice for tints by state troopers and both state troopers told me that only my front two windows cant be tinted and that my back windows and back windshield can be as dark as i want. So after my second ticket i took the tints off the two front windows then took it to the state trooper precinct and wrote off on it after they measured my two front windows and they told me to maill my ticket in and the form they signed off on. Just so u guys know i have a G35 sedan.

man that sucks i just spent $450 on tint tickets. But id rather pay then take my tints off. Try to make it to the meet this weekend, you may find a NBP with no tints. Also you can get a receipt from a local shop saying you got your tints taken off, that might help.

Dude, lucky he didn't cite you for Contempt of Court and Perjury!

In NY you can only have rear side windows tinted if you have no trunk ie. Minivans, SUVs. For all Sedans, you must have 70% light entry (Fish Bowl green). I been stopped 3 times for tints, 2 times i got off good, but the last time the cop gave me a brake and gave me 2. He use the meter... they clearly measure 17% entry...lol. Paid it off, $180.

Do NYC police pull you over (and ticket you) with 35% tint in the front and side windows these days?

what?! you got 48 hours to take your tints of them you have to come back to see this cop and or go to his police station. i got 90$ for all windows tinted and 130 for tinted plate cover last month. it doesnt matter how many windows you got tinted lol.

Even if u take the tints off or show a picture to the judge... He won't dismiss it... He will only reduce the fine probably to like 30-50 bucks

Nope .. is one per window. The cop was being nice and gave you one only. In NY you have 24 hours to correct equipment issues to dismiss the ticket, but good look with trying to convince the precinct that tints is equipment. All situations will be different and different officers handle things different, that's what it really boils down to.
