Valentine V1 or Escort Passport 9500ix

Hey cant decide between those 2
since i live in nyc and do most of my driving here, i am leaning towards 9500ix because it has camera traps database, but arrows on V1 are awesome. What do you guyz use and what would u recommend?

The V1 I just got is very sensitive in our area. Good thing I hardwired it to the window fuse and can just turn it off by pushing the window lock button

Valentine 1 all day every day.
Knock on wood...I was a 2-3 ticket a year person until 2003.

In 2003 I got the Valentine 1.

People that say it doesn't work, no offense...but I think you either don't know how to read it/work it or expect it to be a cop finder rather than a radar/laser detector. It doesn't make the car invisible, you still have to use good judgement and think about where and when you speed.

PLUS, if they ever upgrade bands...you can send the V1 in and they upgrade your unit forever.

People say it's the best for a reason IMO.

V1 hands down. Had mine for almost a year now and it works ridiculously well. Arrows are extremely useful especially if there are more than one cop approaching. Lets you know where they're coming from all the time. Definitely a good investment.

never got a ticket with passport 8500. definitely worth the extra to get 9500. you pretty much get your money back if it helps you to avoid just 1 traffic camera.

Both of them would not be a good idea, as v1 would interfere with 9500
i agree that v1 might be better but traps and camera databse in nyc might be the winning factor

Well...that's only as good as the people updating where the traps are IMO. I'd rather have the arrows and know where it's coming.

The V1 update is $50 IIRC.

It depends on how many automatic door openers there are in NYC.
Tell me about your main threats. Also, cobras are worthless. We call them crapola on the forum. The difference between the 8500 and 9500ix is software. The V1 is slightly more sensitive than the 9500ix. How much Instant on and Quick trigger is in the area?

I'm a regular member on radardetector.net with over too many posts so I know a little bit about this stuff.

Honestly IMO, i was using the passport 8500 until now. I will never use it again! I was caught speeding in NJ and it didnt even make a beep.

You either got shot with quick trigger, which is a form instant on radar, or laser. If the duration of the radar shot is about a second or less no escort will alert. That's the bad news but the good news is if you have an sti-r you can program it so it picks up these shots.

The other thing that happened is you got his with laser. I've heard of detectors not alerting even at 1000 feet.

i have V1 for like last year and its great shows arrows which 9500 doesnt have. it is showing alot false alarms but u can live with it safed my ass thousand of times. i was thinkin about switching to a escort but i think now V1 is better i know ppl who trade it for 9500 and wanted v1 back so do what you gotta do but in a NYC area V1 does work cuz cops are not using any radars. just bunch of red light cameras

I have the 9500i and it's very reliable. In the 9500ix, it automatically learn any false alarms so you don't hear them after the first couple of times.
