ticket for improper headlight color
Jersey just straight crazy with the bullshit laws to raise money for their struggling budgets, I mean improper headlight color every car on the road has hids guess i'm 54 dollars poorer cause the state troopers have nothing better to do than harass people...

6k but i drive an RL they come stock with Hids its not like they were pink or yellow or some crazy color, 80% of the cars on the road have hids now I just think that was a crazy reason to get pulled over for on the highway like state troopers have nothing better to do but give headlight tickets

Go back to STOCK 4300k and then your reasoning will be justified.

Wait, how is having 6000k bulbs illegal? 6000k produces a pure white light. Now driving around in 10000k or 12000k should be illegal because the driver can't see the road that good and he blinds all the oncoming drivers. But 6000k?

Stock cars us 4300k for a reason. That's one smart ass cop to notice the difference. Good job. If 6000k color we're legal. Name a car company that used 5000-6000k stock? I've used 6000k b4 and felt were too blue and did 5000k. The later color is easier to get away with as 5000k is more pure white than 6000k. But the law is the law. Now blue light allowed on anything but emergency vehicles.

Just like I know that running without a front plate in Texas is illegal, I still do it.
If a cop were to be picky and singled me out for it, I would man up and pay the ticket. it would also probably persuade me to put the front plate on.

while I do think a ticket for 6k bulbs is a bit overboard, it is true that its illegal. Just swap the bulbs, get the fix it ticket paid off and pay the processing fee (30 dollars in cali) and swap the bulbs back if you really like the bulbs.

i guess you take the risk with 6k but i WILL 100% agree with the poster that its bullshit because just about HALF the people i see in a daily basis in jersey city are running either 6k or above or running HIDs in projector housing, and it always fucking annoys me to no end when i see SUVs running 12,000k pure blue lights in projectors and nothing happens to them.
fucking being a cop but those people seriously need to cut that shit out. I get it, HIDs R cool, i know, i love them too, but buy some fucking silverstars if your corolla doesnt have HID stock housings...

Yea it was just a wrong place wrong time type of a deal, they should think of other ways to raise money.... and it wasn't like I was driving around town and a municipal cop ticketed me but a state trooper it's kinda funny that is what they get payed 80$ an hour to do........court appearance isn't required I am just going to pay the ticket and be pissed off what else can I do....there is more important shit cops need to worry about

Being pulled over for 6000K bulbs is pretty damn petty, but they're right it is illegal. Some cops are dicks, some are more flexible/realistic. You'll get a bit of both, that time you got the former. Sucks, but technically he's right.
BTW: Don't tell the officer he should be out fighting crime or doing important stuff or whatever when you get pulled over. That's a surefire way to get a ticket for whatever you were pulled over, and then some.

When you're living in a state that's running in the red, I'm sure the State of California has decided to start writing tickets for anything illegal to gain revenue. State like mine NC is running only slightly in the red can find the revenue from cutting costs but you can be sure if our state was on the verge of Bankruptcy they'd be doing the same thing.

NC has there share of wierd laws-The license plate frame can not cover North carolina or the registration stickers. (face a $100.00 fine). The state could makes lots of money if you notice the dealer frames on the cars. Have extra tint on the windows-pay a extra $10.00 when car is inspected. There are numerous red-light cameras in the Wilmington area. I have a personalized digital license plate on my car-The state decided the digital plates were not good so they went back to the normal plates. I am now waiting for my replacement plate.
they are still the law, and if caught breaking any of them. Pay the price.

Don't worry about it man, I understand where you're coming from. If I got a ticket for having 6000k bulbs, I would be pissed. Almost every car I see that has HID lights, has 6000k or above. Just take the hit now and move on. I'm sure you won't be getting a ticket for it again.

Just the other day I saw some dude with 3k in his headlights and fog lights, BLINDING everyone on the road. Mind you he was driving 50 in a 65 so everyone had to pass him. Those people should get every ticket known to man for being such a dickhead. Fogs is fine but not for headlights, damn it was horrible.

I do not have them. My mom's next door neighbor is a sgt. for the NJ state police. Excellent neighbor-when it snows he plows my mom's driveway and sidewalk. refuses payment. Lots of times he has done it after working.

Yea... He does it so why can't I right? In duh time, they will get tickets. There's only so many cops for the amount of cars. If you've got the money, keep getting tickets.. ha ha. Sooner or later you'll get tired of digging in your pockets for something that's so easily fixable.

here's an interesting one to try.
Some headlights are designed in such a way that the light actually seems bluish even though you're running 4300k bulbs.
The headlight assembly has some impact on the color, see if you can run that by a cop.
I'm from NY running 8k low beams and 10k high beams when nobody is around.
no tickets so far.

well, the color gives me a clean indication of where my low beam ends and high begins. It is essentially 2 blobs of light on the road.
Also...it's good for getting slow drivers out of the way as they can see that it's not just my car jumping on pot holes since the color is a bit different.

that trooper is just another hater, try to fight it, and asked what the hell was the trooper talking about? what proof does he have, does he have pics? tell the judge yours is stock.
but this maybe too late you should have gone to a precint near you and swapped your bulbs before you get there too and have it written off, and just be liek thiat trooper was harrasing you or something.
i dont feel bad for stories about what happen to those fools

lets see...if you got pulled over by a trooper you musta been on the turnpike, parkway, 195, 287, or like the atlantic city expressway. Which are all major highways and have a decent speed limit like 65. Sure you werent doin like 85? I find it a little hard to believe you got stopped just because of the bulbs. Something besides your lights must have caught his attention. No front plate maybe? Speeding? following to close?
I live in NJ myself and drive around all over the place with no front plate and havent gotten pulled over yet. But I obey all the laws!
