I would love to have an AcuraZine meet up or photoshoot up around here haha.

well currently i'm back in NYC for the summer, i'll be heading back up here and there. so if the shoot is happening while i'm up in syracuse then i'm definitley down lol. my roommate has a black A4 so i'm sure he would be down too.

how far is utica from syracuse? i think there are a few cool places to shoot in syracuse.. i'll just have to find them.

 

btw who's silver wrx is that in the overboostn thread? i think i've seen him around syracuse

 

cuse is about 40 minutes from utica.. the silver WRX is our friend Jerry he has a yellow S2k also..join overboostn theres alot of guys form cuse on there its mostly a local guys on there

cool my GF parents live in Remsen..hey are you going to Honda Day? theres a bunch of us from utica going!

 

Idk I'm considering it, its about a 5 hour drive according to mapquest but it could be fun with a few people to drive down with. . .

 

theres like 8 of us going so far..plus the confirmed 16 ppl thats gonna be there from this forum..theres gonna be 500+ at this event. let me know if you wanna go so we can all set up a time to meet before we drive down there. i guess were meeting a bunch of guys from jersey at a mall then theres gonna be a big group driving to the actual event.

got a quick questions, do any of you guys know a reputable paint shop around the area that can paint my grill for cheap?
i kind of messed up on the paint and it's embarrassing to drive around now

either i guess, i got a buddy that said he can get it painted for around $75. is that a good deal?

i painted everything a glossy black but it turned out bad so i think i'm going to go for this look:

i sanded the primer down.. then i sprayed clear over it by accident (the cans looks identical). had to sand it all down again.. sprayed it over and gave it multiple coats. during the final stage the clear didn't come out as nice.. i ended up getting dust/dirt on it because i left it outside in the wind. then i tried sanding it down again and that turned out horrible.

got so frustrated that i threw everything back on.. it looks decent from a distance but it's pretty ugly. now i'm driving around with a real ugly grill

i was contemplating on doing it again but i would have to buy new sandpaper, primer, clear, base.. all of that adds up to about 40ish. i might as well get it professionally painted and it'll be less of a hassle

 

btw did you do that 08 base conversion yet? haha

 

i did the 07-08 base conversion when i got into an accident in feb..might as well went with base parts when my entire front was getting replaced lol

 

So I ended up just sanding everything off and then re-painting it with plasti-dip spraypaint and it came out surprisingly awesome.

It has a rubbery, oem-feel to it and it's in matte black. Almost looks professional I would say.

The best part about it is that if you don't like it.. you can peel the coating right off because it's basically rubber/plastic.

Thinking about doing my side mirrors too but I'm not sure how it'll come out.

This past week I saw a WDP CL w/ 19s and a 2nd Gen TL with 6000K HID fogs around the SU campus.. not sure if any of those dudes are on AcuraZine.

Also saw a WDP RSX with painted stockies as well.. exact color scheme as my car ahah.

Hey, nothing much. How about you? I live in the North Side and work at North Syracuse.

 

I go to school at SU so I live around that area. Originally from NYC though.

Any mods on your TL?

 

oh i see... me and my friends drive by SU often in the summer time to chech out girls lol... the only mods i currently have is tinted windows, blue led interior lights and currently waiting for my custom headlights with type S clear defuser and halos.

 

i like what you've done to your grills. did you have to remove it to paint it?

 

Yep I had to drop the whole bumper in order to paint it. It's a lot cleaner that way.

Dropping the bumper is fairly easy though.. All you need is a 10mm wrench, a flathead and a phillips. There are tutorials online.

I recommend Plastidip though. I got it at the Loews on Erie Blvd. Plastidip is like a rubberized paint. It sticks on like paint and is durable but you can easily remove it by peeling it off. Whats great about it is that it looks OEM once it's done drying.
