The Official Working Out Thread

everybody here is into modifying cars, but if youre also into modifying your body for whatever reason, post up your progress

ill start it off...

my name is ryan, i am 25 and filipino, and ive been working out religiously for the past 3 months. heres my progress for the past 3 and some months...

here i am back in 2007... 205lbs

this is when i first started working out in 2008... started out 185-190lbs

this was about 1 month later... 175-180lbs

about 3 months later... 175lbs... i slacked off because of the new gf... =P

started going back in the gym... 170lbs

now... i went through a good year downtime because i got too comfortable with life and the gf... no gym... poor diet...

and then the unspeakable happened... we broke up... which gave me the ANGER to light up the fire again...

this was day 1... 170-175lbs

2 weeks... 170lbs

4 weeks... 170lbs

6 weeks... 165lbs

8 weeks... 165lbs

i slacked off a little bit... here is my 14 weeks... 160lbs

of course no steroid use... just muscle milk, gummi vitamins, amino acid fruit punch drink, and i tried oxyelite which i am off now...

i plan on dropping down to 150-155 which i think is my "ideal" body weight where i can look like that ninja assassin guy... =P

I've seen gayer, would take time & effort to link you to one though.

My progression thread would be the opposite of yours:

2006-2010 185-192lb 6% body fat

Mid 2010 right shoulder/knee surgery

Late 2010 married and nearly obese.

Early-mid 2011 failed attempts at getting back into gym routine 200lbs, 18% body fat.

The end~

i go to the gym like 3-4times a week, depending on my mood and if my buddy will be going with me

my diet? 6 meals a day, i try to limit my carb intake to a minimum, eat as much protein as i can. in short, not as good as i would like it to be but it works i guess. im also at a calorie deficit each and everyday unless i eat out at a restaurant somewhere...

how much cardio i do? almost none. i hate running......

my routine basically consists one week of high reps and many sets, and the next week low number sets but heavy.

example? high reps would be 50lbs dumbbell presses 40x. heavy week would be 110lbs dumbbell presses 6x.

Good job, OP. I'm at 18 months since I started, currently cutting until October.

Imo, if you want to build mass, i would stay away from insanity... Unless youre already massive with muscle mass with a whole lot of fat covering you

Thats too much thought put into a diet... I just eat enough to "satisfy" me for the hour and then ill go hungry again. Im basically hungry all day even though i eat frequently

Like some guy told me before, you should eat just enough quality foods that youre still hungry after

actually that is pretty smart advice, eating to a point where you are still a bit hungry so that you do not over eat ,because it takes some time for your mind to realize that you are no longer hungry and interpret the feeling of being full .. Excellent progress guys

0 cardio.
You're achieving these results without cardio?! That's pretty impressive. Your progress would be a good example of the importance of proper dieting in bodybuilding.

I don't do running for cardio, I have a bad right knee due to a basketball injury. But I do spend a good amount of time on the recumbent bike. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of results I will get with my cardio combined with lifting and a decent diet. I may try your approach for a cycle for comparative purposes...

OP, good work! That's definitely good progress for three months - especially without a calculated diet or cardio.

Carb cycling, if done properly, WILL cut you up. I MIGHT start adding cardio at WK6 if I'm not losing fast enough, but I'm holding off on that as cardio is incredibly catabolic, but a necessary evil ONLY when diet and resistance training alone is not cutting it.

This has significant limitations in that you run the risk of consuming smaller and smaller meals and will forgo fulfilling macronutrient requirements. This principal could work for purposes of a cut, but due to a lack of macronutrient imbalance catabolism will absolutely kick in and stagnate any worthwhile mass gains. If you have basic understanding of your BMR and adjust accordingly to goals, you will never fail to meet your nutrient goals.

Whoever coined that idea is just being lazy, or is interested in cutting only. I eat 6 times a day and am running at a 20% deficit, but I am certainly never hungry for an hour or two after a meal. I’d start dropping mass like a cancer patient if I followed such a principal.

We're just going to have to agree to disagree here.
