They're VERY easy to care for. Best thing to do is get one when it's a chick because it will be devoted to you all it's life. I had mine when I lived in FL when I was young. She slept in the house at night (she had a box with blankets, a water dish and a food dish). They eat cracked corn (very cheap, you can buy it at feed stores). They LOVE water, so in the summer time it would be good to get it one of those small plastic wading pools like you had when you were a kid (we had an inground in FL) to it can swim around. It's really important to keep an eye on them in the water when they're young because they get tired pretty fast and can drown.

All and all they make GREAT pets. Especially for young kids. Mine would follow me around wherever we went. It would be best to have a house with a fenced in yard so you can keep it outside, though ours did come in the house a lot. Never really had a problem with it pooping everywhere IIRC.

Oh and you can usually buy your standard white ducks at feed stores like Agway or Blue Seal in the late spring/early summer for about $20.

I want a farm............ (Yeah I'm kind of a hick, wanna fight about it?)

Thanks Justin, ducks sound like awesome pets. I want one. I've wanted one ever since Ziggy had one in season two of The Wire.

They can smell fear. Just like dogs.

Getting bit by ducks, roosters, and chickens doesn't hurt.

It's the roosters claws you have to worry about.

Justin do you know how ducks do with cold weather, like our CT winters? Since you were in FL it wasn't a problem... I would imagine they need to spend much more time indoors then

Not really sure to tell you the truth. You're going to want to keep it inside, in a basement or garage, with water and a small heat lamp and it should be fine.

I listen to a ton of shit, really, most people totally fuck up when they try to pin my musical tastes down

In the car: Wu Tang, Biggie, Nas, Jedi Mind Tricks, Army of the Pharohs, Armin Van Buuren, PVD, etc
In the gym: The Acacia Strain, Meshuggah, Bury Your Dead, On Broken Wings, Terror, Throwdown, Killswitch Engage
At home: U2, Paul Simon, Alicia Keys, Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake, Zepplin, AC/DC, Maiden

There's something awesome about almost all music
