If it's 16 cooper street, they're soft as carpet over there.... always plead not guilty in the time you have and go to court. They will reduce the ticket to no points and to a very very mild charge.
Not true! Many years ago I got a 89 in 55 on the Taconic when my Maxima was fairly new.
At the time I had "legal insurance" as part of my benefits at the place where I work (only $200 premium a year and gets you all the lawyer you want!).
Once you show up in court with a lawyer you get preferential treatment. Your case gets heard first so you don't spend the entire day in court. I'm afraid to say, it's an Old Boys network. Many times the lawyers knows the cop and the judge.
Long story short it was reduced to a non-moving violation so no points and a $100 fine. Since I had the insurance the lawyer fee was free.
In your case I would definitely get a lawyer. The risk is just too great with 2 tickets in 3 days no matter how soft the court is. Remember, you will probably have to show up twice, which is a good thing. But if they put your dockets on the same day, you'll have to do your dog and pony show twice in a day and risk the judge saying "Haven't I seen your earlier????"
Also, with a lawyer representing you, you don't even have to show up in court if you don't want to. This may be great if you can't get off from work easily. I went because I was curious about the process and tried to learn from it.
If anything, having a lawyer certainly prevents you from losing sleep at night. And no, it won't show as a speeding ticket on your record even if it's reduced.

Funny, I have a court date tomorrow at 2pm for a license plate cover ticket which was $180 and a window tint ticket for $100 (both non-moving violations). The state trooper originally pulled me over for not wearing a seat belt and when he realized I was the whole time (never drive without a seat belt ever) he felt dumb and made reasons to give me a ticket. His meter read 29% on his tint scanner and legal limit was 30. I pleaded not guilty, what are the chances they can "lower" the fine if I prove to them that I am a FULL time student and I am on disability (have been for 18+ yrs) and do not work? Also this date is my rescheduled date, what are the odds of the guy being there?

the cops at cooper are soft i been there most likely they will either reduce points and fine, hiring a lawyer is a waste cause the judge will find u guilty saying 2 speeding tickets in 1 week, most likely will reduce points and the insurance shit i think thats b.s i got mine revoked my license and nothing happened to my insurance, and if you have points, take a 6 hr class which will reduce your insurance and take 4 pts off your license

Steve link me that number too. I just got a ticket comming off after being on call at the hospital in the bronx at 3am for doing 43mph in a 30mph zone. He pure profiled my car just to harass me, because at 3AM there was no traffic.. but whatever.. "legally I'm wrong" but it carries 4 points. Not to mention how fast can i possibly go when I'm slammed 3 inches off the floor right?
What makes mine worse is that tickets in the 5 boroughs, they don't plea bargain. So its straight trial with no DA to chat it up with. Make it harder. I get pulled over on avg. atleast 1x a week just cuz of being profiled. Sucks.

Also if you have 2 speeding tickets on your record, when you go in for the first ticket at ccoper street, they will run your liscence and pull up any other tickets you have as well and so you will be plea bargaining both tickets at the same time. I know this for a fact. They will not make you come back 2x.. not only is that not efficient for you, its not efficient for them. But this does significantly reduce your chances of skating free with no points. So I would explore the lawyer option. Just keep calling around till you find one that gives you a good vibe and is not bullshitting. At the end of the day. its all about if the lawyer you hire has the right connections and relationships at that court, that's what you are paying for.
It wuz by Highway 1... Da Lieutenant was the 1 dat pulled me ova he wanted to impound my car @ the time but talk'd my way out of it
As far as the reckless driving, da cop called it improper lane changing @ a close angle... I had a M3 on my tail & da only reason Y Highway 1 got involved on da Westside Hwy wuz because da M3 cut him close not knowin it wuz a cop car...
How much did you pay?? I got an 8pt ticket reduced to 6pts which isn't even that much a of a difference IMO. I paid this bootleg lawyer $600 since it was an 8pt ticket. HWP said I was doing 83 on a 50 on the belt. It was bs my old civic was slow as hell! So a year later I was finally convicted with 6 pts. I still have to pay the bs fees for the points to the dmv.

Sorry 2 hear that.. I paid bout $300 or $400, to have no points on my record.. neva even went 2 court. They take care of all of that.. I wuz facing bout 11pts & suspension 4 a year..

Now I have a CDL & my DMV report has always been flawlessyea its 16 cooper street. i usually fight everything and get it reduced down so that was the plan when i got the initial ticket but now that i got two and am looking at 8 points im worried they won't completely knock off the points. im really only worried about points, i already know im gonna pay a couple hundred in fines. so i was thinkin of going the lawyer route but at the same time im not sure how much better they would be able to do. my cousin just told me that regardless of what the speeding ticket gets reduced down to it will go on my record as a speeding ticket for my insurance company to see? anyone know if this is true? if thats the case then a lawyer would be a waste if my insurance will go up regardless. just when im about to turn 25 too
