Amp and Sub Install

What's up A-Zine.

I have a question for you guys.... I want to add extra bass to my TSX. I want to keep all of my factory speakers but just have a small sub, nothing big, to add that extra kick. Any of guys know how to install this? If so, how much would this cost me? Or if you guys know of any good shops that do this for a good price, you can let me know also....

I know nothing of car audio so I need help.

Also I have another question. As we know, there is an EQ on the radio to adjust the low's and the high's.... The other day, I was listening to some music and decided to see how loud the factory speakers can go. What I did was remove all the low's and put the radio on full blast and the speakers actually sounded really clear and loud. My question is, if I install a sub, will the EQ on the radio control the amount of bass coming out of the sub? Or is the amount of bass coming out of the sub controlled by the amp? Because I want a minimal amount of bass coming from the actual speakers and let the sub do all the thumping....

Thanks!

A shop should only charge $80-$100 installed tops plus wiring.

So I would just need to buy the amp and the sub right?

And if someone can answer my second question I would appreciate it....

I have exactly what your looking for. My bass is set to -6 so my door speakers have no lows, the bass and volume for the sub i control thru the amp. Since our rear deck speakers have a low frequency we took the signal from there for the sub. Sub is loud and clear. My boy works at Atlantic Accesories he charged me 80 for install of sub and amp including the wires and fuse. Ive had it installed for 2 years and no problems. I have some speakers for the doors and rear deck but I rarely blast my music only on the hway to block road/wind noise not sure if ill install them anytime soon. Stockies are doing a great job so far. I should add i use my ipod 99% of the time much more clear/louder then cd's.

Perfect! That's exactly what I'm looking for....

What sub and amp are you running? What do you recommend?

keep in mind that your Amp output has to match the RMS range of the component for the best quality.

I'm running a 12" JL W6v2 in a ported enclosure. I'm pushing it with a Power Acoustic class d mono amp with volume set to less then half. To many brands and models for me to recommend without knowing what you really want. When you get a chance let me know you can listen to my setup see how you like it and we go from there.
