Are you using IE6? Cause it should only do that if you are using IE6 which is arcane and should die a slow and painful death. Or in other words JDMLove does not support IE6. Upgrade to IE8 (or 7) and you'll be able to get back in. However; I haven't done much on there lately... Been busy with too many other web projects.

Looking to break free of the corporation and set off on my own so been doing odds and ends for people to build up the portfolio...

LOLz, why you blocking out IE6 users. Can't be that hard to get it working with IE6. I fix IE6 issues all the time. What's breaking your balls about IE6?

I don't want to take the time to write an alternative style sheet for it

IE6 is slowly dying and as it should, IE8 is out now for christ sake. As for IE8, not bad for a MS browser, it still has come compliancy issues but nothing like IE6.

However; when I write code I write it for Safari, FF, and Opera. Once those all render the same I move into writing separate styles for various versions of iE.

By the way, I am a web developer by trade tee-hee if you were interested...

Any of you ever used EBC Redstuff pads? I had them installed at Speed Concept Saturday, along with SS brake lines and EBC's GD series slotted and dimpled rotors, and they're a little noisy. I bedded the pads in as per the instructions from EBC. I've only got about 50 miles on the setup and they work great, but I'm hoping the faint scraping noise eventually goes away.

As am I, and that's why I question your desire to just shut IE6 out completely. I believe that at least 20% of people on the web still use it. I too use FF w/Firebug to build all my sites, but I know all the "tricks" to get IE6/7 to behave.

I agree with you wholeheartedly that IE SUCKS, but you've got to expose yourself to as large of a market as possible.

To an extent, you have to understand what browser your target audience is using. If I were building a corporate site, or a landing page for the corporation I work for then IE6 compliance is an absolute must. However; JDMLove for example is appealing to a younger crowd, most of which is using FF and IE7+

For example, according to JDMLove's analytics 41% of the visitors are using IE, of that 41% 75% are using IE7+ so judging by those numbers I don't feel all that willing to spend time creating a stylesheet for IE6 for this particular instance

If my numbers were different I most certainly would write up a stylesheet just for IE6.

To sum it up, I don't feel like I am going to lose any market share because I am blocking a few IE6 users. What's costing me market share is the fact I haven't been posting on JDMLove for a while now.

Cool to meet another webby though! Building a new site for a sideline business and looking for a back end dev to help out, unfortunately, seems to be a hard thing to find these days! All the design houses want to do the front end too which is already done... meh... lol If you know someone who is great with PHP and MySQL let me know.

It's inevitable that Microsoft will go their own route, regardless of the rest if the world. After programming websites for 10 years, I'm just used to it.

i have the same setup on my 3g tl too and still have that rotor scraping noise even after 8 or 9 months of use. now the rotor needs resurfacing. it pulsates stopping from higher speeds.

Ah, thanks for confirming that my experience isn't unique. I searched and read a few posts where the slotted/dimpled rotors make that noise as the dimples pass by the pads. It isn't too bad - I really have to listen for it. I noticed the pulsating from higher speeds too, and it was almost like when my stock rotors were warped, which worried me.

So resurfacing slotted/dimpled rotors (turning) - most any shop will do that, right? I don't think I need to have that done for a while, but I did read on another forum that it's hard to fine a machine shop that would or knows how to turn slotted/dimpled/cross-drilled rotors.

EBC redstuffs aren't considered race pads, are they? I thought that yellowstuff were EBC's race pads. The description for redstuffs are that they're for heavier vehicles that have > 200hp.

Not sure. When i got my Rotora BBK they sent me race pads. Stop quicker than shit, but squeeeeeeeel anytime i do a slow stop.

Then i ordered their "street" pad. Not as noisey, but when it is warm out i get them squeeling every now and then.

I have the EBC green stuff. and all i hear are the sounds of the pads rubbing against the slots and holes.. reminds me of a deck of cards on the bike trick.. not so annoying though just a tick tick tick tick tick tick tick sound... on my scion i have the axxis race pads and its even more pronounced.. still a good sound..

I guess what I hear is kind of a cross between the ticking sound you hear, and a scraping sound. It's not annoying, but just different. I can hear it really well when I pull into the underground garage at work.

BTW, what rotors are you using? Drilled/slotted or dimpled/slotted?

I guess what I hear is kind of a cross between the ticking sound you hear, and a scraping sound. It's not annoying, but just different. I can hear it really well when I pull into the underground garage at work.

BTW, what rotors are you using? Drilled/slotted or dimpled/slotted?
I have drilled and slotted for both cars.. and yes i hear it more in garages or areas where sounds bounces back... usually more so when i am slowing down not so much when the brakes are applied...
