break in at valley fair mall

i work at valley fair mall and a few weeks ago my 02 tl was broken into. they didnt break a window, and im guessing they used a shaved key. i had a kenwood dvd touchscreen deck + 2 10" kicker and amp. and yes they did not take care while taking it all out. my interior is scratched and bent and ripped. they even took my BURNT cds and small filipino flag.... after discovering my car i called security and placed a report, then i called the sjpd and waited 3 hours for them to stop by and tell me its not their jurisdiction. i waited another 30 mins and finally placed the report.

it has now been a few weeks and i finally received my check for $3900 (yes i exaggerated a little bit with what was really in there) bought new rims and coils for my car and paid off my credit cards. overall im happy with the result but im still really mad that this happened. i still have to park in the same area every day and im very discouraged to buy any audio before buying a nice alarm. so warning you all please be careful when parking your car. your stock alarm is NOT good enough if you have aftermarket audio or anything valuable in your car. i knew this but didnt want do spend the money buying an alarm. now you know! even a cheap alarm will do.

Damn, that sucks man! Either way though, if a car thief wants to boost your car, they'll get it if they're really determined, no matter what alarm system you have. It's nice to hear you got your credit cards paid off though.

That sucks man. It sucks that the malls aren't safe places for cars. I know Great Mall has signs posted up saying it's not safe to leave your important personal belongings in your car. I know my friend's Integ got stolen twice from Valley Fair, but she had no choice but to park it there cuz that's where she works!

damn man, at the nicest, richest mall in the south bay too lol. what wheels did you get? at least it all worked out for the better. really making me worried about my car tho. when my miata's hardtop was stolen, no windows were broken either.

I bought a Viper 5900 for 175 online and paid someone on craigslist 200 to install it. Overall that is cheap compared to 600-700 price tag from "professionals" at an audio shop.

Not sure if admitting to insurance fraud was the best thing to do to type there.

thanks guys. it still bugs me that there arent any cameras there or anything. only on the entrances to the garage. my car was parked on the second floor of the garage near cheesecake factory (my work). none of the garages have cameras inside, only facing the garage entrance and mall entrance. which i think is really dumb. no one is going to break into the mall at night but someone will break into your car! and btw this happened in broad daylight between 11am and 3pm where was security?!?!

i didnt know shaved keys would open the doors to 2nd gens? also, didnt the factory alarm go off?? if the car is armed even with factory alarm and someone just opens the car door with any key, it should go off and people will hear the horn and see the flashing lights....
