Became an Acura owner just today. 2018 TLX SH-AWD Tech Pkg. So far, so good. <grin>
Five Hondas in the family, including a 2003 S2000 that I use as my DD, and track several times each summer. Although I guess it’s now time to sell my trusty ‘07 Accord.
A bit concerned about the 9-speed trans in the TLX and came here to search for insights. Time to scour the forums.

Welcome to Acurazine. How did you ultimately decide to purchase a TLX? How has your experience with it been, especially with the transmission?

Hello Ascension. It was time to upgrade from my 2007 Honda Accord and I really need AWD here in the Great White North. Considered Subarus and even the Nissan Altima AWD. (I am NOT an “SUV guy”). This TLX suddenly became available in my locale, so I snatched it up.
Have put about 1000 miles on it since then. Trans does shift awkwardly at times. Visited an Acura dealer during a recent trip to Mpls, and they addressed a TSB on the auto idle stop for $0. (Replaced the starter, adjusted valve lash, software updates.). Yay! Also had them replace trans, diff and transfer case fluids. Still shifts abruptly at certain times. Continue to be a bit worried about the possibility of major mechanical failure……
Any insights?

If you don't mind sharing, how much did you pay for your TLX? Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with them, nor did much research on them. My enthusiastic binge has been the 4G TL SH-AWD over the past year, and while I have looked at some TLX's, I don't value them at their current market values. All cars have their own quirks and unique problems. If the car drives fine, I wouldn't have any concerns. You also have a newer model of the 5G, so any of the horror stories should be remedied.
What do you like most about your TLX?
