My A/C keeps going out
Hello, I need help not sure whats wrong with my TL it's a 2004 base model. My A/C works when it wants to it keeps going in and out I have had the refrigerant level checked and it is fine, the fuses are good and the compressor turns on also. I am not sure whats wrong two mechanics checked it out and noting someone told me I might need a new A/C clutch. Has anyone else had this issue and if so how can I fix it? BTW I live in FL and its raining season I need help!!!!
I just purchased a 2009 TL, and had issues with the clutch as well. I've decided to replace the entire compressor along with a new condenser. Also there is something called a receiver/drier which looks like those little packets you find in new shoes(but bigger) that is supposed to aid in keeping the moisture down. I'm guessing its got the original one in mine.
If you replace the clutch you shouldn't need to drain the system since it sounds like your refrigerant level is fine. If you replace entire compressor have to open up the lines, fix the broken stuff, vacuum the lines, refill etc.
If you are just replacing the clutch, I remember watching this video, seems pretty straight forward:
