A16 (Replace rear differential fluid) @ 8K miles?
I recently purchased a new 2024 Acura RDX. At 8K miles it is calling for an A16. They are charging me $115 for the Rear Diff. Fluid change. This seems very early (low miles) for this type of maintenance on a new car. Everything I'm reading says 15K miles to Replace the Rear Dif. Fluid. Should I be concerned?
It is usually 15,000 miles for 1st rear sh-awd rear diff change and every 30,000 mile afterwards UNDER normal driving conditions. Shorter service intervals sometimes means the vehicle was operating under severe conditions (extreme heat/cold, towing, extreme stop/go traffic as an uber/lyft driver, etc). Another possibility is the maintenance reminder was or wasn’t reset and the schedule could be off.
Can you see any previous maintenance in the Acura owners website? I keep a backup on my iPhone in an app called Road Trip. I sometimes do service early before MID notifications and ask the tech to zero out, they forget half the time and that service pops up later.
I think I would spend the $115 if I’m not 100% sure about the details instead of rolling the dice and skipping.
